when i was with my ex, he made up a job he never did and put me down as a reference on the assumption that they wouldn't check, but they did and this woman called me and I had to pretend to be his boss - I was literally 16 - and then she asked something like "so what were his duties exactly?" and I couldn't think of anything to say so I hung up. He didn't get the job.
