For Riley’s family, the regeneration part of being a phoenix only lasts until they have a child, then that trait is passed along to the next generation. Riley’s mother was immortal until Riley was born and Riley will be immortal until he has children of his own. He knows this and is perfectly content with it.

The Lost Boys

Headcanon for Helgie, Raymond, Charles, Gwen, and Eliza.

Part One.

Many moons ago, in a different life, Johnny gave birth to two children in quick succession. The first had been taken from Eliza as a fetus: this is Gwen. The second was a half-demon, Helga Iakkho, named after the demon father and Johnny's distant uncle. Both claimed Eliza as their parent, stayed in the library, and were extremely neglected.

They were born at a bad time to say the least. Their lives were cut short at the age of three. Johnny was off his meds, and after fighting with Eliza, snapped and threw the children out of the third-story window. [This is also, coincidentally, why Eliza put so many wounds on his back and why Johnny has no will to live. And in case you're wondering, they haven't spoken since].

Yet when they died, they found they were still here. On Earth, that is. They weren't immortal enough to survive the fall, but not mortal enough to enter the afterlife. Helgie and Gwen are forever in limbo. Unable to return to the library and to their parents, they found Merchandise, who brought them into the forest and raised them in seclusion.

Part Two.

Life went on. Helga and Gwen's mother spiraled of control. The library was abandoned and became nothing more than a place of mourning and grief. Eliza stopped eating, stopped wanting to live, and stopped wanting anything except something to kill the pain: drugs. She'd already had a drinking problem, but now she needed something more. She tried coke, but it wasn't enough. She tried heroin, but it wasn't enough. She tried crack, and used a cocktail of the three hard drugs until she was so out of it she doesn't remember entire years of her life.

She doesn't remember having Raymond or Charles, but a DNA test proved they were her kids, and at some point they were found at the library. Once again, the quiet, naked ghost, Merchandise, stepped in. When their real mother was too gone to know where she was, it was the ghost who took the twins into the forest and cared for them. Having nothing herself, she gave the four children her all.

Now they still live in their little world within the woods. Merchandise has moved on, but the four Lost Boys, as they call themselves (despite Gwen being female), are still there, making ends meet in a home that consists of a truck, an old 60's van, a small camper, and in the summer, a yurt

helga: sometimes he's afraid of babies. oh and he gets really upset about sex in cars. but hes not really afraid of things, per say.

max: he fears his mom will really go over the edge

jericho: EVERYTHING. but his biggest fear is showers, and sex (specifically gay sex, but sex in general just freaks him out). he also fears relapsing (he used to have a binge eating disorder)

reiterated headcanon bc of reasons: Rileys will say they're human, but they aren't. They're descended from Titans and they're fully immortal. At most, they'll become ghosts, but you literally can't kill them.

Being descended from Titans is also why they can have mpreg, because they're not completely human and yeah. Just throwing that out there.

rileycanon: Riley blood isn't as human as they say. It's actually a trippy mix of Titan, human, and depending on where they are on the family tree, angel and demon. It's not all that important, except for when babies are concerned.

Riley babies and Riley carriers are just odd. First, male pregnancy is a thing. It happens. Second, the fertility level's sky-high. One and done is a normal thing. Less than one and done has happened. Some of them can think their mates pregnant. It's bad. Third, gestation is frequently less than nine months. It might be five months. It might be a week. It's arbitrary. Fourth, Riley babies run really big. They're gonna be like 10, 12 pounds at birth, normally.

Last but not least, some of the Rileys have a specific genetic thing that happens when they're carrying: this is Johnny and Danny, usually. Because their blood is so bizarre, their body doesn't receive a baby and just go 'oh, baby,' it basically goes 'oh, parasite,' and more specifically, thinks 'tape worm.' Of course, a baby isn't a tape worm, and the baby'll be fine, but if you get Johnny or Danny pregnant, they will need to constantly feed, and they're going to put on a ton of weight. Just let them do it. Trying to be like 'no, sweetie, you've had enough for today' is going to harm them and the child they're carrying. Just.. Go with it.
