Oblivious to the Obvious || Henley & Hax (closed)

Sometimes, getting drunk at home was the best way to get drunk. Because, when you were at home, you could be twenty more shades of an idiot than if you were drunk at a bar. That's probably why Henley was, at the moment, dancing around her house in a pair of boy short underwear and one of the many t-shirts of Colton's she'd stolen over the years. Her long blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail at the back of her head, and it flowed behind her as she slid across her wood floors in the thick, warm socks she wore.

There was no real reason for her to be drinking alone. It had started as a beer with dinner, and then she just hadn't stopped popping them open since then. So when she heard a knock on her door, followed by the sound of Hax's voice calling her name, all the color drained from Henley's face. "Shit!" she exclaimed as she slid directly into a wall, causing a book or two to topple off the bookshelf next to her. "Fuck!" she whispered loudly, bending over to grab them up and toss them onto the bed.

She ran towards the door, turning down the new Taylor Swift album (that she may or may not have stolen from Toby's truck) as she went by the stereo. She pulled the door wide open and smiled widely, "Hax! What are you doing here? I wasn't expecting company." She paused as his eyes ran over her, that stupid smile of his that made her insides turn to jelly on his face. Fuck. "Obviously, because I'm not wearing pants," she pointed out with an anxious laugh.

Henley reached out and grabbed his hand, pulling him inside and closing the door, "I'm glad you're here! But, I guess I should put some pants on."

rooftop rumble | claire & hax (closed)

Jackson coming back into town had really put a damper on her living situation — not that Claire had ever really minded where she made home. Claire was a nester no matter where she went, but her current living situation* (*see: hopping back and forth between Caden’s shack, Finn’s shitty little cabin, and breaking into Toby’s house whenever he spent the night at Brett’s) was nothing compared to being at Jackson’s. She couldn’t really speak for Hax, but Claire quite enjoyed playing house with the dude — even if she did make sort of a shitty housewife and he made kind of a messy husband. In the end, the duo made it work. Hax could cook* (*see: use a stove to heat up pizza rolls) and Claire could, well, provide comic relief in the form of witty banter and really, what she lacked in housewife skills, she more than made up for it in the bedroom. And on the kitchen table. A couple times on the couch. And then there was that one time on the roof which she had drunkenly agreed to — not that she really had much to complain about. Honestly, her cousin should have just been glad they didn’t burn the house down. Still, she had missed her pretend hubby after they moved out and had gone their separate ways. So naturally, the most logical thing to do when she saw the idiot on the street looking like a certified homeless person but still dorkily adorable was to run across the street, abandoning her coffee and dodging traffic, all so she could hop onto his back in a tackle/hug/attempt at strangulation. “Hey, idiot,” she greeted lovingly, arm still wrapped tightly around his neck, body flush against his back as she pulled him down to press a kiss to the back of his head before pushing him away — which technically was a pretty rough greeting for most normal people, but Hax grew up Belfront, anyway. He had to be used to it by that point. Claire smirked when he turned to face her. “Long time no see.”
