hello dear 😁 since you're in a "going back to your roots" phase... i got two things for you

rate wolf coat colors and patterns

top 5 favorite og salamangka characters (if you can still remember 😅 it's been a decade 😳)

Ooooh, blast from the past, I like it.

I wish I could find a handy dandy chart with some documented and properly named patterns/genetics, but apparently we can't have nice things. All I can find for full charts are AI images on Facebook or furry RPs on DeviantArt of dubious legitimacy. Thankfully, I DO have a lot of wolf pictures saved over on Pinterest (I think some of them might have actually been used for some Salamangka characters back in the day.)

There's a lot of variation within packs/families, so alas, this is by no means extensive.

We'll start with the classic gray. 9/10. Generic, but it does look quite nice, doesn't it?

There's this one, which is cream colored (leucism? dilution? I don't know, I'm not having much luck finding wolf genetics.) 5/10. No strong feelings either way. I do think it looks nice for the most part, but in some contexts they look like they were stained or something.

A personal favorite is just another take on gray, but with a higher degree of this reddish brown color. 10/10, I really dig this one.

Here's a nice picture of a Lamar Canyon (?) female to show off the fan favorite: black! 10/10 again, we love a classic.

And another fan favorite, white wolves! There's actually a ton of variation for each color and I sadly don't have the space for that many pictures. 10/10.

There's these silver guys, which admittedly I'm not too fond of. They look old, even when they're not actually graying from age. 4/10

There's also your regular red wolf, a species but technically a color, too. They get a 10/10 just for staying alive.

There's this variation of the black coat that gives them a really pretty reddish-brown color. 9/10, I think it's gorgeous.

And I'm running out of pictures and variations, so I might have to revisit this one later.

As for the second part, I do remember quite a few! Top five, I think......

Skies/Skye (obviously)

Byal (my love 🤍)

Cheren (world's best husband 🖤)

Uhhhhh I think her name was Rose??? Funnily enough I think the second to last picture was actually used for her.

about the fall tags. maybe they have meant that these shots are so gorgeous, and that insane that they're not even the most popular well know ones. that you could take any shot from that movie and it's still pretty

Yeah, they could have. @rillabrooke mentioned the same thing. English is not my first languange and i still sometimes have a problem not understanding what someone really meant, especially in written form. Deleted the post now. Thanks for mentioning it.

re: song suggestions

i'm glad you liked the aurora song! it's not my usual genre of music, either, but i agree—it's great for character playlists :)

if you have the chance, i strongly recommend watching the 2025 proshot of the west end production of next to normal! as much as i love aaron tveit, jack wolfe is the superior gabe imo

I remember seeing it get produced and thinking ah! finally a good way for me to get into this musical! but wasn't able to at the time so I totally need to check that out. Irrc some of my beloved mutuals have seen and loved the west end pro shot as well 👏 (Purely from audio tracks, I liked Tveit's version of that song better, but I'm excited to see Wolfe as the character bc that always throws volumes of context into the performance rather than just hearing a single track - like how I love listening to Tveit's Christian but Conor Ryan's character performance was impeccable.)
