Thoughts on Jewel Joker ch 14

I loved this breather ch that allowed time for us to catch up with our favs in their true form.

Like I missed their style:

They're so cute (as they always are) and I love how Amu's purse looks like a guitar. It's always been sort of implied that Amu would play guitar (esp with Amulet Devil).

And I think it really leans into the theme of the chapter which is reflecting on how much everyone's grown and changed a little bit. Because it shows Amu's sense of self has a firmer direction of who she wants to be with the little tidbits in style.

This is also such a cute KUTAU ch!

My heart SINGS at the sight of them! Like they were catching me up on all the couples that were implied and left off at.

And I LOVE that they are going at different paces. Bc I have complained about the trope "Pairing the spares" and how it's a way to messily wrap up characters together that suits a trope rather than healthily looking at relationships as two unique individuals coming together

I loved Kutau and how their chemistry sort of just hits it off, while I got to see more realistic slow burn of Kairi and Yaya where they don't click as quickly as Kukai and Utau but I'm seeing a more comfortable growth in Kairi and Yaya's relationship that suits them (which is the most important aspect).

Like the implication is one thing but seeing how these two who are so different adjust to each other is really nice. Stick in the mud Kairi has started to informally call Yaya, Yaya-chi instead of Yuiki senpai.

Yaya also knows how to flex her skills with trends to Kairi (which is most likely his weakness tbh).

Same goes for Nagi and Rima. I feel like they are more in between the phase of developing and stating it out right (wink wink).

Rima was so cute for thinking of Nagi and immediately wanting to give them this gift. Like the unique shape of their relationship took more form which I really appreciate.

If I had to say in terms of pacing is:

Slowest burn: Yaya and Kairi

Slow burn: Rima & Nagi

Medium burn: Amu and Ikuto considering how long they've been attracted, got to know each other, and even now have not fully claimed a relationship

Fast burn: Kukai and Utau

They have the fastest kiss in all of Shugo Chara.

And fast burn doesn't mean a bad burn. Just means they knew what they liked and went for it because that's who they are.

Which goes back to how reflective Amu has been during the holidays and how things change, even with Ami moving up grades and growing up. (I also really appreciate seeing her parents never changing either).

ALSO:

This entire page had me throwing up questions marks.

Because the media-literate me had it on the money with Tadase being the cover of Vol 3, that I fear the implications this page poses because I'm media-literate.

Did Erito transfer out?

Did she go out to look for her Shugo Chara because she remembered seeing her chara covered with flowers?

Does she have the wrong idea about charas still? Or will Tadase take over and teach her the right way? Will she find her dream with Tadase's help?

Tadase has also been connected to flowers since his backstory and daffodils for his grandmother. Not to mention his birthday is in spring, and his Star sign is Aries the bringer of spring. With Erito's search being related to flowers bring a new spring for Tadase?

What about TadaNiya? What about Kokage?

I swear I love seeing how his heart is coming to terms with Amu and my romantic ass is trying to open his heart (excuse the pun) to new love too.

PS Personally all bets are on Utau being the cover of Vol 4, bc I have a feeling something is going to happen with Kokage and Dia that utau might need to step in for.
