Hi! Saw the request was open and had an idea: how would the afop characters would handle finding out in real time that there kid was fucking stupid? And I dont mean clumsy or impulsive, I mean you have several talks with them about a situation or a subject that need to be learns and they do not get no matter how simple it is, its like something in there head is going "im not working today".

Example: the character's mate is an avatar, meaning the kid is mixed with both na'vi and "demon blood" as they say. However, the kid was born with all the traits of a na'vi so the only way to find out they are mixed is to meet the parents and go "oh, your mom/dad is an avatar, so youre mixed". And just to be sure that the kid is prepared for any discrimination, they had the talk about the Young being mixed, but this dumbass thought it meant "oh, im mixed because my parents are not from the same clan" because in their mind, i dont have avatar traits, so i cant have sky people blood. So everytime its brought up, they keep having to give them the talks and you just see ITS NOT GETTING IN!

I understand if you dont want to make it, its so godamn dumb but there is something so frustrating yet so hilarious in explaining something to someone and them just going "no" like what do you mean no?!?! Its not an opinion, its a fact! You cant argue against facts!

• The child somehow becomes more confused.

• He then brings in books, charts, examples, etc.

• They literally just aren’t connecting the dots.

• At that point he mostly gives up and starts answering questions as they come.

• He just accepts that some conversations will repeat every month.

• The child asks a question.

• The child asks the exact same question five minutes later.

• Has physically picked you up and carried you away from consoles before.

• You can FEEL his judgment.

• “You act without thought.”

• But he also refuses to stop you sometimes because he’s curious what’ll happen too.

• One time you accidentally activated an old recording and both of you ended up listening quietly.

• Another time you almost triggered defense systems and he immediately lost patience.

• Grabs your hand before you can hit another button.

- “Enough.”

• Still somehow ends up following you while you cause problems.

• Acts annoyed but clearly keeps staying near you on purpose.

• Thinks it’s hilarious at first.

- You: “What does this one do?”

- “I don’t know. Let’s find out.”

• The two of you become a HORRIBLE combination.

• Half your adventures end with both of you sprinting from angry machines or alarms.

• He laughs the entire time too.

• Encourages your curiosity way more than he should.

• Will absolutely dare you to press suspicious-looking buttons.

• Then acts shocked when something explodes or powers on.

• Etuwa has definitely yelled at both of you together over this.

• She can always tell when you’re thinking about pressing something.

- “Do not.”

• You pause dramatically with your finger hovering over the button.

- “…You are going to do it anyway, aren’t you?”

• She’s correct every time.

• Honestly gets more tired than angry about it.

• Has had to pull you away from dangerous machinery multiple times.

• But sometimes your button pressing accidentally helps uncover useful information.

• Which only encourages you further.

• She regrets validating you even once.

Tamtey

• Immediately assumes you are going to get both of you killed.

• Because statistically? You almost do several times.

• The second you walk into an RDA facility he keeps an eye on your hands specifically.

• “Do not touch anything.”

• You touch something within thirty seconds.

• He hears machinery activate somewhere in the distance and just closes his eyes.

• The exhausted sighs this man lets out because of you.

• Eventually learns you press buttons out of curiosity, not recklessness.

• Still doesn’t trust you around technology at ALL.

• Secretly starts checking what buttons do himself after you leave because now he’s curious too.

AFOP x S/O who likes to sneak up to scare them.

So’lek

• The first time you do it, he reacts on pure instinct.

• You’re on the ground before he even realizes it’s you.

• Immediately freezes when he recognizes you, lowkey horrified at himself.

• “…Do not do that again.” (you will absolutely do it again)

• After that, he starts tracking your footsteps constantly.

• You think you’re being sneaky? You are not.

• Will casually speak before you even pounce:

- “I can hear you.”

• BUT… one time you actually manage to surprise him.

• The way he stiffens gives him away instantly.

• You swear you saw him get embarrassed about it.

• He pretends it never happened and refuses to acknowledge your “victory”.

Ri’nela

• You scare her once and she actually jumps so bad 😭.

• Hand over her chest, staring at you like you just took years off her life.

• Kinda like a grandma would. Especially if she had her pearls to clench lol.

• “Why would you do that?!” but she’s laughing too.

• Starts trying to anticipate your sneak attacks.

• Fails. Repeatedly.

• You become her biggest menace.

• Eventually she tries to scare you back.

• She is TERRIBLE at it.

• You see her coming every single time.

• She still gets proud when she almost succeeds

• If you think about it, it just becomes a bonding moment built on the other’s fear 🥰 so sweet.

Teylan

• You scare him and he straight up yells

• Like I’m taking full volume, no shame (maybe but if a squeal like a girl too)

• Drops whatever he’s holding

• Then immediately realizes it’s you and just looks at you utterly betrayed.

- “YOU CAN’T DO THAT—”

• Gets flustered every time you laugh at him

• Tries to lecture you about “danger awareness”

• You scare him again mid-lecture with one of those “wa-“ while jerking forwards at him.

• He still jumps a bit from that.

• He’s never recovering from the betrayal

• Starts getting paranoid and checking behind him constantly

Nor

• You try to scare him… and he doesn’t react

• At all (kinda boring man)

• You think you failed until he slowly turns his head like

- “…Finished?”

• He knew you were there the entire time

• Lowkey finds it amusing but will NOT give you the satisfaction

• One day, he decides to flip it on you

• Sneaks up on you instead

• Actually succeeds

• Smug. So smug.

• That one win fuels him forever (not fair tbh)

Eetu

• You scare him and he immediately goes into defensive mode.

• Not aggressive, just fast reflexes.

• Grabs you before you can even run away.

• Then realizes it’s you and just sighs with a small smile creeping up his cheek.

• “You enjoy this too much.”

• Starts playfully retaliating

• Will sneak up behind you and poke your sides or grab your waist

• Turns it into a game between you two

• Who can scare who first that day

• He keeps score. Seriously.

Etuwa

• You scare her and she lets out the softest startled noise

• Then immediately starts laughing.

• Thinks it’s funny more than anything.

• Encourages it at first 😭

• Until you do it while she’s focused on something important.

• Gives you the look.

- “…Not now.”

• Later though? She will absolutely try to sneak up on you back

• She’s actually pretty good at it too

• It becomes a playful, mutual habit

Tamtey

• You scare them and they physically jumps back.

• Hand going straight to their weapon out of instinct.

• Realizes it’s you and just exhales like:

- “…You will be the end of me.”

• Doesn’t like it at first since their too on edge for that.

• But you keep doing it anyway.

• Eventually they starts recognizing your patterns.

• Calls you out before you even act.

• “If you are behind that tree, come out.”

• The ONE time you outsmart them though??

• He just stares at you like you’ve unlocked a new level of chaos.

So’lek

• The first few times, he assumes you’re joking.

- “…You lost your bow.”

• You: “Temporarily.”

• Absolutely does not understand how someone survives like this.

• Starts silently keeping track of your weapons himself.

• You’ll swear you left your knife somewhere random and suddenly it’s back in your sheath.

• He put it there. He’s not admitting it.

• Gets increasingly tired every time you ask, “Have you seen my-“

• Eventually starts making you do a “weapon check” before leaving camp.

• If you lose something important during a mission.

• He’ll give you a disappointed stare that hurts more than yelling would.

• Secretly relieved every time he sees you fully armed.

Ri’nela

• Tries SO hard to help you stay organized.

• Makes designated spots for your gear and everything.

• It does not work.

• Somehow your weapons still end up in impossible places.

- “Why was your dagger near the cooking fire?”

• You genuinely do not know.

• She starts laughing after a while because it becomes ridiculous.

• Finds your bow hanging from a tree branch once and just stands there in disbelief.

• Keeps extra supplies around because she expects this behavior now.

• Will lovingly hand your weapon back with the most tired expression imaginable.

Teylan

• PANICS every single time

- “You LOST it?!”

• Immediately starts helping you search

• Turns into a whole rescue mission

• You’re calm while he’s losing his mind

• He cannot understand how you function like this

• Starts inventing ways to keep track of your stuff better like:

- Straps

- Markers

- Little modifications

• Basically ANYTHING to help your terrible memory.

• Gets weirdly proud when you don’t lose something for once

• Then you misplace it five minutes later

Nor

• Thinks it’s concerning at first.

• Then realizes this is simply who you are.

• You’ll casually ask if he’s seen your weapon while he’s actively holding it because you handed it to him earlier.

• He just stares at you for a long second before giving it back.

• Lowkey starts expecting the question daily.

• “You are looking for this.”

• Somehow always knows where your stuff is before you do.

• Doesn’t tease much, but the dry comments are brutal.

- “Perhaps next time, tie it to yourself.”

• You swear he sounds amused sometimes.

• Finds the whole thing hilarious.

• You lost your knife and he’s already laughing before the search even begins.

• Makes a game out of finding your weapons first.

• Unfortunately he’s REALLY good at it.

- “How did you even get it up there?”

• You don’t know why your spear ended up on a tree either.

• Starts calling your missing weapons “migrating wildlife”

• Teases you constantly but always helps you look.

• If someone else complains about your forgetfulness, he defends you immediately though.

- “At least they lose weapons, not fights.”

Etuwa

• Patient about it at first.

• Very patient.

• Too patient, honestly.

• She’ll calmly help you retrace your steps every time.

• But one day you lose something for the THIRD time that week.

• The sigh she lets out 😭

• Starts encouraging you to make routines.

- “Put it in the same place every time.”

• You try. Genuinely.

• She can’t even stay annoyed because you always look so embarrassed afterward.

• Definitely becomes the person you instinctively go to when you lose something.

Tamtey

• Cannot comprehend this behavior at ALL.

• Your weapons are important so why the heck are you forgetting them??

• Gets mildly stressed every single time.

• You once left your bow behind before patrol and they looked personally offended.

• Starts checking your gear himself before missions.

- “Weapon?”

• You: “…Right.”

• Rubs their temples every time you say that.

• Despite acting annoyed, they’re incredibly reliable about helping you search.

• Has memorized your habits better than you have.

• Lowkey feels responsible for making sure you’re armed at this point.
