What’s killing me is that Langdon is hanging around just to be there. He’s not charting or seeing new patients he’s just stalling going home, even while his back is in obvious pain. This is the most “I don’t want to talk about my divorce or go home to an empty house” behavior I’ve ever seen
So I'm reading about the history of clocks and I came across this:
Sorry, Queen Elizabeth had a *ring-sized* watch? In the 1500s?? And instead of ringing it just discreetly scratched her finger???? That is...not only well beyond what I thought our technological capabilities were back then, but also sounds very useful and makes me wonder why we don't have quiet, ring-sized alarms now.
The ring did not survive to the present day, sadly. However, we do have a sketchbook from the man who designed it, Pierre Woeiriot de Bouzey II. While not the design of the exact ring in question, it probably would have been similar to this.
That's not even as elaborate as they could go, though. Check *this* thing out! To quote the source: "A ring watch featuring a triptych of the Crucifixion of Jesus, made by Jakob Weiss c.1585. Image courtesy of Kornbluth Photography and the Indianapolis Museum of Art."
