In honor of National Quilting Day, we’re highlighting Faith Ringgold’s "Tar Beach 2" quilt. Ringgold’s combination of image and imagination, text and texture puts a unique, contemporary spin on the traditions of both quilting and storytelling. This work communicates the dreams and hopes of a young girl, Cassie Louise Lightfoot. Flying among the stars on a hot summer night, Cassie becomes a heroic explorer overcoming obstacles.

When I was younger, we used to go hunting an entity called Green Eyes at the Chickamauga Battlefield. You’re not supposed to be in the woods after dark, but how else are you supposed to see a ghost? Lol... anyway, I haven’t thought about Green Eyes in a really long time but I just had a nap and dreamed about a couple of my high school friends getting pictures of Green Eyes and we got famous for proving he existed. Lol what does it meaaaannnn...
