"Anyway the Knight is touchstarved probably". Okay, okay, this is fine, I didn't need my heart anyway ;-; Of course, we could make this WORSE by speculating that maybe they've never really had that kind of positive touch with living beings; assuming the birthplace cutscene is one of their first memories, then their first touches were had while they were CRAWLING OUT FROM UNDER A PILE OF THEIR DEAD SIBLINGS. Have they just never been touched? Never been hugged or anything? Shit, now I'm MORE sad.
I always tend to write them as being not used to non-violent touch because even on their journey, where I tend to assume they were shown some kind of baseline compassion, it wasn’t ever lasting (since you know, travelers move on, that’s how it is) and the Knight probably found out early that like, wandering up to people without any suspicion was a great way to get hurt or almost eaten or killed, so there’s that additional trust barrier there.
So yeah the first thing they ever consciously touched were the dead bodies of their siblings and they were probably not socialized for comfort, considering the early developmental period of children is when they need physical affection the most and I highly doubt they ever got it, sooo
touchstarved and probably very cautious of ever accepting comfort from people because it could easily be a trap of some kind is a great combination to make the Knight a very lonely child who actively shies away from affection
