Tony learns a lot of things about Pepper when they start dating.

First, she gets really hot in her sleep, and she sleeps with windows open.

Second, she hoards books. Potts likes bookstores. At their first day they go to the bookstore that Pepper likes. It looks old, “Rare and Used books” the sign reads. Books, good wine and records. That the things that Pepper loves.

Third, he likes her smile. She is really cute without her make up. She wears contact. Fourth, she is too good for him. But he can’t tell her who to love, she is a free woman.

Fifth, she likes cactuses. She has like 10 of them and buys one when she is sad.

Six, she doesn’t want kids. She likes kids. She is not sure she can take care of them. It isn’t just a flower in the pot, and she killed at of them due to neglect. It is a human being. She can’t just forget to feed them, because she is overworked.

He keeps mental notes of all of them. How she makes her coffee, how she sings when no one hears. He want to know more every time.

4. First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight?

hahaha nah not love at first sight at all. pepper mildly disliked tony because she didn’t know him enough yet. tony’s the kind of guy whose mind is goes through several things at a time, so he can listen to what someone is saying while still thinking through something else. except pepper didn’t know this, and she took a look at his unfocused eyes and got mad as hell bc she was trying to talk to him, tell him what his schedule looked like, and it just seemed like he was ignoring her when she was just trying to do his job. but then she got to know him and within a couple months he claimed a soft spot in her heart. then over the years it developed into a deeper affection and eventually love.

tony, meanwhile, was kind of terrified of pepper when they first met. to this day, she is still the most competent woman he knows. he’s convinced that she could rule the world if she really put her mind to it, and he spent, like, the first year of knowing her just trying not to piss her off too badly bc he couldn’t imagine life without her. it wasn’t necessarily love, at first. he just latches on to people really easily, even though he’d never admit it. then as they spent more time together feelings started to happen.

This has nothing to do with anything but for some reason I’m just imagining Tony getting his pet flamingo a matching bowtie and walking it down the red carpet with him to fend off reporters. XD
