Inamorata by Megan Chance, it’s beautiful and I’m usually not a fan of imagery (look the meat of a story should not be in the color of a fuckin leaf but anyway) BUT DAMN MEGAN CHANCE IS A MASTER AT IT EVEN I LOVE IT and her prose is so SEXUAL AND SENSUAL AND SEXY without being. CRUDE?? it’s beautiful honestly. and haunting and just. everything. i love the characters, the POVs, tHE SYMBOLISM, THE MYTHOLOGY, THE ART!! but also, warning: there’s some dark shit in here and some incestual themes so like, don’t read if ur vanilla
Everything Beautiful Began After by Simon van Booy, which I should reread soon but IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL! again beautiful prose but a wonderful story, about hope and love and grief and loss and life!!!!! and travel!!! and just SUCH interesting characters, and his writing just has a way of making you want to look at the world differently
White Oleander by Janet Fitch, because I’ve been reading it over and over since freshman year of high school and it still takes my breath away with the ugliness of it all and the writing and the characters. also there’s some fucked up shit in here too i mean it’s somewhat graphic and sexual
A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick, because damn the setting is a character of its own and it is so haunting, this entire book makes you feel such emotions and the characters ARE SO WELL DEVELOPED AND THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS BEAUTIFUL AND it is just. so good. again, there’s some sexual writing in here but it’s fine
