PEOPLE ARE POISONING WATER WITH ANTIFREEZE IN HOPES OF HARMING PROTESTERS
If you receive a donation of water during a protest, squeeze the bottle. They're putting the antifreeze in by injecting it with needles. If any water comes out, it's contaminated. Also check and see if the bottle is sealed properly.
Stay safe.
Big Warning
If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It's known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you're too close, you'll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.
Stay safe.
A lot of people are saying the plywood shields are a bad idea. @ codemarvelous on twitter has a nice alternative
At some point, everyone reaches a limit where they can no longer sit back and stay silent about injustice in the world. However, if you do plan on attending a protest—even a peaceful one—there are some important precautions you should take with your phone before you go.
Turn off biometric login and enable a PIN or password
Know how to force-enable PIN/Password entry
Turn on Airplane Mode to prevent government tracking
Back up your data
Set up Personal Safety in Android or Emergency Contacts/Medical ID in iOS
Consider Screen Pinning or Guided Access
Hey, a little heads up. If an account that looks new with hardly any followers or not following many people messages you asking for details on a protest, it might be a cop.
Making a masterlist of rioting tips, do you want it when I'm done? Do you have anything that I might not have seen?
Yeah I do thanks and I feel like most of what I have is basically standard:
1. No phones or technology
2. Hide your face
3. Wear protective clothing but stuff that probably isn’t loose-fitting so you’re less easy to grab. If you have long hair put it up.
4. Bring milk to wash out your eyes if you can
5. Bring other first aid
If you’re out there protesting, remember the number 1 rule: protect yourself, because your voice can’t be heard if you’re injured or dead.
Always carry a water bottle with you (for drinking, cleaning wounds or teargas from eyes, wetting your mask in case of teargas, weapon in worst case scenario),
Bandanas are your best friend (to either help you breathe, to mask your face in case someone tries to identify you, to bandage your wounds),
Energy bars are a must (you don’t know how long you’ll be on the streets, you need your energy),
Carry a first aid kit if possible (nothing too big, just the essentials)
Think of escape tactics (know the terrain, you need all of the shortcuts and secret hideouts),
Stay with groups (don’t become a target, cause damage but be stealthy),
Know the laws (rage might fuel you, but you need to channel it wisely).
Don’t burn out too quickly. The authorities will try to tire you out until you no longer wish to rebel. Be wise about this. One violent clash might quench your thirst for vengeance and justice, but you’re not there to just hurt them. You’re there to make a change.
Edit: I’m just gonna add this here. Staying incognito online is so important. Also don’t just answer your phone and be careful who you talk to.
