To me the relationship between Arima and Haise (Kaneki) is that of a love, but not the romantical one. It is a lot more deeper than that. Closer to the loyal love between real family members connected by blood and/or emotions. It is similar to what parent and child have between them, more specifically father and son.

Yes, to me Arisasa is so real. Proven by the chapter 83 of :re, their relationship is so pure. So beautiful. Like a father and his son whom he loves deeply. I love it. And it broke my heart so much to see the heavy tears coming out of their eyes when Arima was dying. Arima, the grown man who seemed devoid of emotion, cried and unleashed his hidden feeling of guilt and of his hatred towards himself. Even I came crying too when he tried to reach Kaneki’s face and call the name “Haise”, but unfortunately could only get halfway done until he closed his eyes forever. I don’t think I can get that heartbreaking scenes out of my mind for a while.

Arima… I loved you, but you once dissapointed me when you emotionlessly fought the Ayato and co in cochlea. Even the moment in the past when you had killed Touka’s mother cruelly until it was hard for me to feel such an empathy with you.

But now, you have fully won my heart again.

RIP, Arima Kishou.
