in the period before the high holidays (which start...in about a week, yikes) it’s customary to visit loved ones’ graves, tend to them, leave some stones on them to show that you have visited...

one of my childhood best friends passed away a while ago and i’ve visited her grave a couple times in this period, sat down next to it and read the shrieking shack chapter of prisoner of azkaban out loud--that chapter of it was a favorite of ours and it’ll always make me think of her, no matter what JKR tweets.

it’s weird now to think that i have a friend who’s passed away more recently and in circumstances that were much more actively sad--for one, instead of it being someone who i’d had a falling out with and things ended weirdly between us, it was someone with whom i’d been looking at old photos of luka modric only a few hours before they passed--and i mean, i couldn’t go to visit their grave (if they had one?) even if i wanted to, because we didn’t live near to each other, but i don’t know how to honor them in this holy period.  i have a reminder set in my phone for their yahrzeit (anniversary of someone’s death) so i can light a candle, but for this time period, i dunno.  i’ve been having a hard time processing all of this again lately.

Me before the One Chicago crossover event where Lexi Olinsky died: They can’t kill off Lexi, they just can’t. They wouldn’t go there. They wouldn’t be that brutal. She’s just a child. They can’t make Alvin suffer that much. Lexi is an innocent child, why would they kill her. Nah they won’t do it. Plus, what’s the point anyway, she’s just a guest that pops up every two years or so. No need to kill her. Nah they won’t do that. [they did do that]

Me before the episode where Emily Fornell died: They can’t kill off Emily, they just can’t. They wouldn’t go there. They wouldn’t be that brutal. She’s just a child. They can’t make Fornell and Gibbs suffer like that. Emily is an innocent child, why would they kill her. Fornell lost his wife a few years ago, Gibbs just lost Sloane, they wouldn’t make them suffer even more by killing Emily. Nah they won’t do it.
