This smile is everything.......
In the translated spoilers when Erwin spoke about dead comrades, Moblit was one in the crowd. I suppose he's dead then? No Hange seen though so yay! Maybe Hange has been generally kept out of battle to make her leadership stand out more for dramatic purposes if she becomes the new Commander?
I posted a little salt about Hange’s MIA status a few days ago, but I think what you say is reasonable. It’s worth noting that Levi was missing from the Clash of the Titans arc as well. His particular brand of baddassery wasn’t needed and would’ve been a distraction to the story.
Keeping Hange out of the action is keeping her safe. She’s needed for future development. i feel like when Hange reappears it will be in full awesomeness. Armin is good but he can’t compare. If anyone can find a way out of this mess, it’s Hange. It wouldn’t be the first time she’s saved the survey corps.
Maybe we’ll get another moment like the one in chapter 42 when Hange was in complete control of not one, but four squads in a coordinated attack. She was making decisions, delegating responsibilities, ordering movements, and caring for the injured effortlessly.
Or it could be like this one from Chapter 45 when Hange was severely injured but used every bit of strength to direct the survey corps in their effort to recover Eren and Ymir.
Or it could be like my last anon described. Levi frees her from the rubble and sadly hands her a bloody bolo tie, still warm from it’s previous owner.
