note: in honor of me moving in w/ my bf hehe :) also not rlly proofread, just trying to get this out
NSFW / suggestive parts are included separately at the bottom so those that are uncomfortable with them can still read the main parts :)
eren yeager
when looking for an apartment, he would look for high ceilings or big windows; he doesn't want to feel cramped
hates spending hours in decor stores. max you get of his attention would be 20 minutes, and by that time, he starts leaning on the shopping cart with a glazed-over look, telling you:
"whatever you pick looks fine to me, babe"
will refuse to hire movers, would claim they are a waste of money. he will try and carry three heavy furniture pieces up four flights of stairs by himself, most likely tearing a box open and sweating through his shirt
won't unpack completely; will leave half-unpacked boxes sitting in the living room for weeks
will accidentally take over the closet space without realizing it because he just throws his clothes onto hangers
when assembling furniture... eren will refuse to look at instructions, thinking it's just self-explanatory. would try to force wooden dowels and screws into place with sheer strength (even if it's like trying to put a square block into a circle opening)
will get intensely frustrated when he realizes at step 12 that he built a shelf backwards at step 3, swearing under his breath and tearing the whole thing apart to restart
on the first night: would order cheap takeout, sit on the living room floor and get super excited about just eating pizza with you. it would finally sink in to him at that moment that you guys now share a home
armin arlert
when looking for an apartment, he would look for an apartment near parks, water, or tree-lined streets
bonus points if it has things like a window nook or built-in shelving
he would read every single online review of the building, study the neighborhood safety metrics, and analyze the floor plan dimensions before even considering signing the lease
when looking for furniture, i think he would prefer warm tones and also would have so many framed memories of the two of you all over the apartment
for packing, he would create this master spreadsheet tracking every box, its numbered code, and a detailed inventory list of what's inside so nothing gets misplaced
for moving, armin would coordinate the schedule so that neither of you will get overwhelmed, making sure there are built-in breaks throughout the day
when assembling furniture, he would read the manual front to back before picking up a screw
armin could also make building furniture together into an almost quiet and rewarding bonding activity. every time you finish a piece together, he would give you a bright, relieved smile and would guide you through any confusing steps seamlessly
on the first night: i feel like armin would so something interactive and cute and fun. a "neighborhood discovery" meal.
a 5 minute walk around your new block, picking up one small thing from three different local spots: a warm baguette from the bakery down the street, cheese and fruit from the corner market, and a nice bottle of wine
levi ackerman
when looking for an apartment, he would look for any sign of poor upkeep at the apartment you guys are viewing
if there is wall-to-wall carpeting, he will leave the apartment without saying a word
once, there was carpeting in the bathroom, you don't think you have seen him ever so disgusted
when it comes to furniture, he needs practical and easy to clean. if a cushion is not removable and machine-washable, it is an immediate, non-negotiable hard pass
levi would take control of the kitchen and bathroom selections, insisting on sleek, stain-resistant countertops and stainless steel utensils
for moving, he is the actual king of color-coding, labeling, and meticulous organization
every box is labeled on top and all four sides with its designated room, exact contents, and priority level:
'KITCHEN - WEEK 1 - ESSENTIALS'
before putting an item into a box, he would clean it so that nothing brings 'outside dust' into the new apartment
and of course, before you guys can do anything to the new apartment, even bringing in a new box, he would deep clean it top to bottom
he would also test for mold tbh
when it comes to furniture, honestly just leave the assembling to him... he's got it
would lay out a protective cloth on the floors while assembling so it doesn't get a single scratch
levi would follow the manual with precision, tightening every single bolt to perfection using his own tools
on the first night: would make you a pot of high-grade tea, pouring two mugs and sitting down on the couch together
he would pull you into his side, wrap an arm firmly around your waist, resting his cheek against your hair. he would take a sip of tea, look around the spotless room with pride and murmur:
"it's quiet. i like it here with you"
jean kirstein
when looking for an apartment, he would focus more on the aesthetic and the location (is it located near good food spots, does it have a good sunset view, etc.)
when looking for furniture, he would sit on four different couches in the store to test 'cushion density and loungeability' and claims that "he will just know" the minute he sits on it
for moving, he would use a thick black sharpie and scrawl vague, all-caps words across the cardboard like "BEDROOM STUFF" "KITCHEN / FRAGILE. DO NOT DROP" and "MISC/IDK"
will hire movers for the giant furniture and boxes, but when it comes to your more fragile stuff, he will carry all of it himself
at first he might try to carry too much of your fragile stuff at once, realize his mistake when he sees the look on your face, and is much more careful afterwards
when assembling furniture, he will pull out his power drill and throw on a fitted tank top to flex a little while working
jean would start off completely confident without the manual, get slightly confused, but refuse to admit that he is confused. he might quietly glance at the pictures on the box, figuring it out purely on ego (no matter how long it takes) (maybe when you step into another room he frantically looks at the manual, but doesn’t want you to know)
on the first night: would save the first receipt from your first dinner in the new place. he would take a photo of the two of you holding the new apartment keys, tag the date on the back, and pin it right on the fridge
jean would also find a hidden spot that nobody else will see, like inside of a closet door frame, or under the kitchen sink, and use a sharpie to write both of your initials and the move-in date
he's flat on his back beside you under the kitchen sink, flashlight balanced between his shoulder and cheek. he would uncap the sharpie with his teeth, jot down the initials and date and turn to you with his familiar lopsided grin
"there. permanent record. now we're officially stuck with each other in this lease, and everywhere else"
reiner braun
when looking for an apartment, he prioritize an included gym in the complex (or a nearby one), easy parking (preferably in a garage or gate for safety), and make sure it is in a secure building
when touring apartments, the first thing he would look at is the maintenance and the door locks, window seals, and smoke detectors
for furniture, reiner cares more about durability and comfort
(he would prefer a bed frame that he can actually fit on, unlike the only one his mom reluctantly had for him that had his legs dangling over it)
he would insist on investing in a giant, ultra-plush sectional couch where you can both stretch out completely
will encourage you to pick all the colors, wall art, and decor accents, following you around with his arms full
if you start insisting that he provides at least some input, he would take it very seriously for your sake, looking at the two colors intently (even though he can't tell the difference between them) and choose
on packing day, he will do 100% of the heavy lifting; he insists you don't pick up a single heavy box
will carry couch sections and mattresses on his back like it's nothing while sweating through a tight tank top
for unpacking, he will make sure all of your stuff is unpacked first and that you have enough space, claiming:
"i don't have much or need much"
on the first night: i feel like he would do something stupidly cute, like slow dancing with you in the unpacked living room
he would hold out his hand, ask for a dance with a small flush on his cheeks but a huge smile. he would pull you in close, one hand on the small of your back, the other holding yours, and gently sway back and forth with you
he would just bury his face in the crook of your neck or on the top of your head, and hold you like you're the most precious thing in the world (i mean, you are to him)
bertolt hoover
when looking for an apartment, he would get super anxious about making the wrong choice --- what is the neighbors are noisy? what if there are hidden utility costs? is the street traffic really bad at night? etc.
so, like armin, he would constantly check apartment reviews online
when it comes to shopping for furniture, i think he would like to avoid going to large furniture stores because there are endless choices and lots of people (last week ikea overwhelmed me so ik for a fact it would overwhelm bert)
in choice of furniture, he would love soft, plush, extra-large furniture where can comfortably fit his tall frame without feeling awkward
he would pack everything with extreme care (feel like he would use SO much bubble wrap, even for non breakable things, and you would have to pry it out of his hands sometimes or show him the receipt of the cost bc that shit adds up)
he will ask you where you want everything placed, constantly double-checking his stuff isn't taking too much room or getting in your way
bert might accidentally hang up a mirror way too high so that you can't even see yourself in it, and he would have to rehang it
while assembling furniture, the thing he would be most careful about is scratching the panels or dropping a board on your foot
would live for the praise that you give him when he finishes a difficult build
on the first night: he'd set out a giant cozy hoodie for you while he orders your favorite comfort food; laying out a thick nest of blankets and pillows right on the living room floor
while eating, he would curl his long frame around you, resting his chin comfortably on top of your head or on your shoulder; whispering about how excited he is for all the mornings you will wake up next to each other, shared dinners, and peaceful routines you're going to build in this space together
erwin smith
when looking for an apartment that has a separate dedicated office space so that he doesn't disturb you if he needs to hop on for calls or finish up details late at night
would handle all the lease negotiations, paperwork, and legalities smoothly
when it comes to furniture, he would want timeless pieces, or sleek and modern; feel like if you guys were to leisurely furniture shop and you just point something out that you like (even if it's like half a thought) he would immediately buy it for you, even if it ends up being a designer piece one of a kind lol, so you guys might have these art pieces that are ridiculously expensive but he would never tell you
my mom has always said to me "you know you made it when you no longer assemble your own furniture". well, you made it
erwin would hire a full-service team that packs, transports, uncrates, and builds everything so you don't have to lift a finger
but, if you are someone who tends to like to have a little more control or just feel like you are involved in the process, he would happily encourage you and guide you on how to be more involved
(whether that's like talking with the team more in detail where things go and guiding the process the whole time, or lifting some packages, though the workers would be under strict instructions, unbeknownst to you, to make sure that you never lift anything remotely heavy)
before doing anything else, erwin would want to establish his office space first, then help you with your stuff for the final unpacking
on the first night: he would pour two glasses of whiskey / whine / your drink of choice and sit with you on the balcony / window
you guys would look out at the city lights together and toast to your new chapter together with a warm, steady smile on his lips
marco bodt
when looking for apartments, he focuses on practical details like proximity to grocery stores, good natural light, a cozy kitchen (good size fridge), and a friendly neighborhood vibe
marco would love to go thrifting or checking out unique, character-filled decor pieces to mix in with new furniture
when packing, he would show up with extra tape, sharpies, bubble wrap, and homemade snacks
this guy somehow makes the moving process completely stress-free
he would play music and laugh with you through the heavy lifting; never raising his voice at you or using a stern tone
first thing marco would unpack would be the kitchen to make sure you guys have coffee, water (cold), and food ready
when arranging his stuff, he would constantly ask for your input on where things should go
"do you like this lamp here, or would it look better by the window?"
he wants to make sure you are happy with every corner, but of course always includes his input
would double-check every screw to ensure that the furniture is completely safe and sturdy before letting you test it out
i feel like he would also make building furniture its own little event --- putting on a fun playlist, setting out snacks, making sure you have a comfy blanket to assemble and try to build together as a team
marco would be super encouraging the whole time:
"you're doing great! look how good this is turning out!"
on the first night: he would bake or cook a simple warm meal, set up a cozy blanket fort (or a pile of pillows on the floor), and cuddle with you while talking about all the memories you are going to make in this space
connie springer
when looking for apartments, i feel like he would get overly hyped about random unique features
a dispenser on the fridge door, dimmer switch on dining room light ("mood lighting! movie night mode! romantic dinner mode!"), soft-close cabinet doors ("look, babe! you literally cannot slam these! watch!"), and an in-unit washer/dryer that has a little jingle when it finishes (i just imagine that whenever it plays, connie would drop everything and do a little dance to it every. single. time.)
when looking for furniture at IKEA or home stores he will get distracted immediately and forget the goal of the mission
he will try out every single chair and display bed, even if you guys aren't looking for any of those furniture items)
he would beg you to buy the weird, funny, or extremely colorful decor items
while moving, he would try and carry way too many boxes at once to prove his strength, nearly dropping a box of dishes before catching it at the last second and laughing it off
connie would get distracted mid unpacking, finding things and instantly stopping to play with it or show you something funny he forgot he owned
when building furniture, he would end up with way too many leftover screws than he should have:
"well... it holds weight, so we're probably good, right?"
on the first night: he would order way too much greasy takeout, play video games on the floor using a cardboard box as a table, and fall asleep on the couch next to you wrapped in a random throw blanket
porco galliard
when looking for apartments, he would be super picky about the garage / parking situation, building security, and having a modern, updated kitchen
would also be looking at all of the little things --- would any of the fixtures have the landlord special? any tiles cracked?
when looking for furniture, he would scoff at anything that looks cheap or flimsy in the store, pushing down on tables with his thumb to check for wobbles:
"this garbage won't last six months"
he would act like he doesn't care about decor, but will secretly shoot down three different rugs you suggest until you pick the one he secretly liked all along
will grumble the entire time while moving about how much stuff you guys own, yet still carries the heaviest stuff, refusing to allow you to lift anything heavy
i feel like he would hate clutter, so he would try and unpack quickly and efficiently
doesn't let you touch a single hammer, wanting to show off his handiness
porco would get visibly cocky when he builds complex furniture effortlessly, tossing the allen wrench in the air and catching it with a smirk when he finishes
on the first night: he would collapse onto the mattress with you after a brutal day of moving, pull you tightly into his chest, let out a satisfied sigh, and murmur:
"finally... no more driving back and forth to see you"
eren: once he did all the heavy lifting and moving, he would be absolutely flushed, muscles exhausted, and running on pure adrenaline
when you hand him a bottle of water, you'd take in his state, tracking the sweat dripping his neck, which he would catch, so he'd step into your space, playing with the hem of your shirt and whispering:
"i spent all day hauling our stuff up those stairs. least you could do is help me wash off"
armin: when getting ready for bed the first night, once the bedroom door is closed, he would pull you down onto the newly made bed, fingers lacing tightly through yours as he whispers against your jaw:
"i've been thinking about having you all to myself in our own place all day..."
of course, his face would be flushed up to the tips of his ears, but the idea of being alone emboldens him
levi: once the apartment is clean and locked up for the night, he would walk into the bedroom, unbutton his shirt
without breaking eye contact, he gives the mattress a firm pat:
"this place is clean, the door is locked, and i'm tired of waiting. get over here"
jean: he would make sure that the bed frame is built tight and rock-solid first --- testing it by tossing you onto the bare mattress and dropping his full weight on top of you
he'd hover over you with his arms propped on either side of your head, looking down at you with his cocky smirk and a wink. he would give a small bounce on the mattress and teasingly whisper:
"see that? solid as a rock? won't creak at all... no matter how loud we get tonight"
reiner: while the two of you are swaying in the living room, he leans down, burying his face in your neck and give your waist a firm squeeze. his face would be flushed but grinning, whispering against your skin:
"you know... now that we have a place all to ourselves, i don't think either of us is getting a single hour of sleep tonight"
and he was right
bertolt: the second the two of you lie back on the mattress, he would get flustered at first, but hover over you
he would bend down to press deep, warm kisses along your neck, murmuring softly into your skin:
"no one is going to interrupt us tonight... we can take as long as we want"
erwin: once everything is finished up, his focus shifts entirely to you
he would look at you with a smirk:
"now that the groundwork is laid, sweetheart... my attention belongs entirely to you"
marco: once you guys are settled down for the night and washing the dishes from dinner, he would lift you up by the thighs to set you up on the kitchen counter
he would kiss you until you were breathless before whispering into your ear:
"i've wanted to have you all to myself like this for so long..."
connie: before you guys even unpacked the first box, he would turn to you, grinning ear to ear
he'd throw an arm over your shoulder, point around the empty apartment and announce:
"so, floor plan looks great. now we gotta figure out which room we're breaking in first"
porco: when he finishes the newly built bed, he would sit on the edge and grab you by the waist to pull you right between his legs
looking up at you with a sharp grin, he tosses the instruction manual on the floor and says:
"instructions claim it's sturdy. want to help me stress-test it right now?"
