Raila Odinga Mourns Former IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has expressed heartfelt condolences following the death of Wafula Chebukati, the former Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Chebukati passed away on Thursday, February 20, while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital. He was 63 years old.
In his message, Raila described Chebukati as a dedicated family man and a pillar of support to his loved ones.
"Times like these are never easy, and no words can truly fill the void left behind," Raila stated. "My thoughts are with the entire family, especially his widow, Mama Mary, and sons Jonathan and Emmanuel during this difficult time."
Legacy of Service Chebukati served as IEBC Chair for six years, overseeing two critical elections—the 2017 and 2022 General Elections—before retiring in January 2023.
His tenure left a significant mark on Kenya's electoral landscape, and his passing is being mourned across the country.
