RIP Dick Dale (1937-2019) The King of the Surf Guitar!
Oh! No... months after Adrian Lloyd (Drummer of Legendary Surf Instrumental bands : the Rumblers of « Boss » fame, and Adrian and the Sunsets! *I named my fanzine after his hit... ), weeks after Randy Nauert (bassist of the Challengers! ) and days after Hal Blaine-Drums, it's time for Dick Dale to pass away : the King of the Surf Guitar died sunday after suffering from multiple health problems for years, including rectal cancer, kidney failure, and diabetes. Despite that, he continued to tour right up until his death and had committed to ongoing tour plans for the rest of 2019. He was 81. To us Rock'n'Roll and Garage-rock fans, as the co-inventor of the Fender Reverb Unit, he was right Up there with Cochran, Link Wray, Duane Eddy, Berry, Bo and Hendrix 🎸 (RIP 😢 ) : #dickdale #dickdaleandhisdeltones #ripdickdale #dickdalekingofsurfguitar #dickdaleandthedeltones #kingofthesurfguitar #kingofthesurf (à Anaheim, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvOfav0AWiG/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1e87g5gzaa11q

#Repost From @le.monde.vintage (@get_repost) ・・・ Dick Dale on the Ed Sullivan Show, 1963. In this clip, he plays a portion of 'The Wedge' 🖤 The song was released as a single under Capitol in 1963 with 'Night Rider' as the B side. It also appeared on his third studio album 'Checkered Flag' which was also released under Capitol that year. I'd highly recommend watching the entirety of his Ed Sullivan performance, as it is packed with incredible playing and glimpses of other songs like 'Misirlou' and we even see him singing 'Swingin' and A-Surfin'' at the beginning. I have a link for this, so be sure to message me if you're interested in seeing it. Dick has got to be one of my favourite guitarists by far - he has truly mastered the instrument and his strings being in reverse order shows his ineffable amounts of talent. Such an underrated musician. #RIPDickDale #GuitarHero #SurfRock #50s #60s (en Malibu, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvKSPU1F7WFhi3kKscE6-aNOp7qqw-aNLvKFJE0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=71xxo506dwiq

RIP Dick Dale! Fazia muito tempo que eu não tocava isso, minha tendinite e fibromialgia não deixam mais kkkk, mas vale aí a tentativa pra fazer referência ao master das palhetadas desvairadas! #ripdickdale #dickdale #misirlou #pulpfiction #quentintarantino #pulpfictiontheme #surfrock #realsurfmusic #60s (at Jóquei Clube) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvJ3OMnn0rd/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=15dxw52ry3cjn
#RIPDickDale Posted @withrepost • @brianwilsonlive I’m sorry to hear about Dick Dale passing. Dick’s guitar playing was a big influence on all of us, and we covered “Misirlou” on our Surfin’ USA album in ‘63. Love & Mercy to Dick’s family.
