Today marked four years since the world lost Carrie Fisher. We all miss you so much, Space Mom. Your family lost you. Your friends lost you. Your fans lost you. You were adored and loved by so many whose lives you touched as yourself and as Princess Leia. I was four years old when I was introduced to Star Wars and she came into my life. I wanted to grow up to be Leia. Why? Because Leia was a take charge, butt-kicking Princess who still got her man after making him earn her all while fighting for what she believed was right. She spoke truthfully, from the heart, and was unafraid to speak her mind. She stood her ground even in the hands of the enemy. Leia chose the right thing over the easy thing and she seemed to be fearless about making tough choices. She made me believe that a girl could do anything. As I got older, I learned more about Carrie Fisher outside of Leia and only loved her more. I found her even more inspiring because she was unafraid to share her struggles with the world. She was so candid and real about the fight that people have with addiction and mental illness when so few were afraid to talk about it. She’s one of the reasons more people open up about those topics today. She’s a hero and a warrior whose legacy for these things will never die but only grow. This bracelet was a Christmas gift this year. I will wear it with pride. I know there will be times the answer to the question may be 🖕🏻or completely inappropriate for the situation. However, it will make me smile to see it on my wrist and think about her. I will think of her wise words. I will think of Leia too. The growing resistance here fights for real change.
