Using the four tiers of the RISE Model as a guide, I performed a self-evaluation on the projects I completed this month in MDP. I thoughtfully considered my contributions as they relate to my growing familiarity and aptitude with media publishing and distribution.
My attitude, logic and behavior influenced my MDP projects in a very beneficial way. I typically approach all of my new courses with a positive and willing-to-learn attitude. And MDP was no exception! I learned so much about media publication and distribution. My favorite, most helpful asset to learn in MDP was InDesign. I’ve always wanted to know how the different features the Adobe software has work, and now I do!
As I started working on my publication and the different practice assignments, I realized I wanted to know more about DRM, which stands for digital rights management. DRM, is a term used pretty loosely and typically means anything from encryption (like in the days of CD-ROMs, when a user key was needed to gain access) to the system managing rights across all types of data in terms of controlling access, tracking usage and collecting revenues. DRM technology can be cumbersome and, at times, annoy customers. A particularly frustrating example was when the DRM would shut the CD down once the subscription period was over.
If I had more time, I would be getting an A+ in this class instead of not getting an A+ in this class. What I mean is, it was very difficult to complete this course with a high passing grade, but I did it! For example, there were assignments I turned in with missing components, which would hinder my grade for the assignment of course. When you are really tired, you tend to miss things. I don’t recommend working 2 jobs while going to school full-time if you can help it.
My experience working with digital publishing completely supports my professional objectives. The way I plan to use this in my career is probably too infinite to count. I’ve always appreciated media publications ever since I was in grade school and finally knowing how to make professional publication like e-books, magazines, folios, guides, etc. is going to give me such an advantage as a competitor in my field.
After completing the MPS (Media Psychology) course this month, I used the four tiers of the RISE Model as a guide to produce a self-reflection video on the work I completed this month. I thoughtfully considered my contributions as they related to my understanding of psychologically based media design strategies.
