“Aster and Master Sartorius are friends, didn't you know?”
Aoi's eyes narrowed, skimming the crowds of students within the academy's hall. She was absolutely livid; how could he lie to her? How could he have tricked her for so long?
“It's because of him the society even had a chance to thrive here!”
For months, Aster had been lying to her. She'd lowered her guard and let him close to her, buried her suspicions of him and called him a friend. She'd let him into her life, and in turn, believed him when he'd said he was just at the academy to 'scope out' the future competition as a pros. That he could use the refresher courses and enrolled as a student. He'd portrayed himself as a typical kid and even shown her a side of himself even he claimed he didn't realize existed, and she'd drank it up.
She'd been caught by a society member and egged into a duel, with the condition she'd join them if she lost. But Sartorius's society had turned cocky with the 'popularity', which meant her victory had come a bit easier than she'd thought it would. And with it was one last-ditch attempt to break her: Her opponent declaring Aster Phoenix was on their side. A man she'd thought would help her, that was on the sane side, had been a liar right along and used her.
Aoi bit back a growl, turning down a less populated hallway. It was impossible to not believe what she'd been told; everything meshed far too well. He'd come to the academy right before Sartorius had, focused his everything on Jaden. Always vanished and never explained himself, or showed up out of the blue with just 'taking a walk' as his excuse. Held so much back she couldn't quite completely stop herself from being suspicious. She'd even seen the two of them together before, but held such trust in him and his lies she hadn't thought anything of it.
And the moment she laid her eyes on that familiar white suit and silver hair, she was down the hall like a bullet. He'd used her- He'd betrayed her trust and she-
“How dare you,” Aoi hissed, hand still raised and stinging from the sharp slap across the pro's face. “How dare you- You lied t' me! How dare y' use me like that?! You've been here th' whole time as a Society member- You liar!” Oh, how she wished she could throttle him right there – But at least a slap was a good start, hand already shifting for another.
