It's not that Kieren is weak and can't take it, but between Rick and Simon there's a roughness that comes about from being unafraid of hurting each other. They don't need to be delicate and tender, and don't pretend that they need to be either. It's the kind of relationship where it's easy to work off tension - the kind that can completely upturn the kitchen and leave Kieren wondering what the fuck hurricane just tore through the room. It's the kind of relationship with bruised lips, scuffed knees, teasing words said with an equally teasing smirk, easy laughter, and nothing left hanging between them. It's easy. They both completely love Kieren, and would do anything for him, and through that have found each other, and that suits them just fine.
