RESEARCH // RISOTTO STUDO
RISOTTO is a risograph printing studio, based in Scotland. They manufacture their own stationary / apparel, as well as offering customers the chance to have their own work printed by them.
I absolutely love their website, because if provides you with everything you would possibly need to know if you are about to print on the risograph, if you are a newcomer to this printing method or just need a refresher. It provides you with colour charts, tutorials on how to prepare your document, a bible including everything you would possibly need to know about different inks / paper stocks, it also provides you with a print stimulator which allows you to mock up your work and see what it would look like printed! I think this is a great way to see how your work is going to look, therefore you dont waste any time or money designing something that might not come out how you intended. This is also a great way for you to decide if you want to print on the risograph or not - as it may not look right!
I have ordered a sample pack from RISOTTO, which will give me a physical run down of the inks / the outcomes that can be achieved through printing with them on the risograph. This is definitely something for me to consider when redesigning my zines, as it would mean I could mock up what it is going to look like before printing AND I could then get it printed with them, if I so desire. Of course I could use the risograph in university (if it is working), however this is a nice back up plan / alternative option to have, if I choose to go forward with the risograph.
