thinking(TM) about using the concept of anemoi—the greek gods of wind who each represent the four cardinal directions of which they came from and the different weathers they bring—and connecting it to the metanarrative of the big four as a group of compatible characters with different origins and strengths...... just imagine borrowing the poetic epithets of boreas (the north wind god and bringer of cold winter air), specifically the ones that call him ‘sky-born, billow-driving’ and ‘(who comes) with lightning rushing’, and using them to describe Jack (at his deadliest)!

Hi, hi! So the other day I opened two (old) email notifications from both AO3 and FFN about comments on my fic (Like A Fist in the Eye, my ongoing multichapter Jarida AU, to be more precise <3) and was especially surprised by how long I have last wrote for this fandom. Both commenters even wondered if I have abandoned my fics in some way, so I feel like I should give a quick update on things while I still have the time to dip back into this blog.

First of all, I am not abandoning my fics! I’m very much still fond of this fandom and will continue to write for it - In fact I currently have 10 WIPs for ROTBTD, six of them even shaping up to be multichapters, so yeah,,, still very much in this big four brainrot until god knows when

However I’m not really in the place to write right now; life has been very much a handful these days (in a good way!!) and I literally have no time to sit down and write about these four blorbos from my shows. I’m thinking three to four months until I’m free to write fanfics again. I might drop in a few more times into tumblr and made updates like this again if I get to make some progress though; hopefully I get to post new stories sooner!

Until then, here’s a Notion screenshot to show my writing progress for LAFITE! Aside from a nameless Jarida oneshot (some of my mutuals would know this one; i kept asking them to proofread some snippets from it lol), this story is my priority right now :) 

My writing style has changed somewhat, I might even say it got better, so I feel like I should edit some stuff from Chapter 1 to suit it better. Chapter 2 is pretty much done, but i still need to do some final editing before having it proofread. Chapter 3 and 4 are closely tied so i tried to write snippets of moods and scenes for the latter all while working on the former; It’s been going pretty slow but so far I’m satisfied with how I wrote it! And while Chapter 5-6 are still nameless and pretty barebones in terms of outline, making it too soon to say anything, there’s a chance that the story might need 8 chapters for it to end well. I’m also thinking of changing the title because i just realized recently how grotesque it sounds in English lmao; hopefully I found a better variant that’s still close to the original phrase.

Thank you for reading this until the end! my fics - and LAFITE especially - got an unexpected amount of love so I feel like I should give back by providing a detailed update somehow. Cheers!

“Look, I’m okay. This is all unnecessary.” Hiccup’s hand does an illustrative gesture to the side that conveys absolutely nothing, “…I just had a rough day.”

“Yeah, but you’ve never done it at this hour,” Merida says flatly. “It’s almost bloody midnight, Hiccup. Did your parents have a fight or something?”

(or: Hiccup and Merida go for a night drive.)

LIKE A FIST IN THE EYE | Ch. 1 [rotbtd // soulmate AU]

“Are you done for the day?” Rapunzel repeats. “Or do you still have that midterm essay you said Rafiki asked you?”

“...Hell’s bells. I completely forgot about that!” Merida shoots up to a sitting position and immediately falls back to her elbows, head spinning as colors flooded her vision. “Ugh.”

“You need to sleep,” Rapunzel says sternly as she sits up as well, one hand on Merida’s shoulder. “It’s submitted through email tonight, right? Have some rest first.”

“Punz, I haven’t even started it yet.”

“You’ll get it done, I know you can! You always do. I’ve seen how you work. But first, you need to rest.” Rapunzel grabs her hand to steady her when the world wobbles underneath Merida’s feet and checks her wristwatch. “Oops, it’s almost time already. I’ll meet you back at the apartment?”

“Yeah, sure,” she almost forgot Rapunzel has an afternoon exam today, at three thirty PM. After putting back her things into her backpack, Merida yawns and waves her away. “Go now. Be brilliant.”

Rapunzel finally leaves, but not before telling her, “Take a break, Merida! Sleep!”

Which, heartbreakingly, is something that Merida can’t do. The deadline for Rafiki’s essay is nine PM. What she needs to do right now, instead of sleeping, is set up a nice cramming corner in their apartment with a good coffee on her side. A potent one.

Turns out, finding an establishment that could fulfill her request is harder than it sounds.

After being (politely) denied in every mainstream coffee chain around Walt, Merida finds herself defeatedly stepping inside that blasted café down the main street, consciousness hanging by a thread. She’s heard about the place many times before, one of the newer student haunts in town that Rapunzel has mentioned as her cousins’ favorite. But the distance from campus and her initial skepticism with its flowery name has kept Merida away from the establishment—until now.

AND WHEN THEY PLAY IT (YOU CAN’T HELP BUT SING ALONG)  [rotbtd // band au]

The lights flashed from red to green to yellow to blue. The band was approaching the final chorus. Rapunzel lifted a hand as the song neared its crescendo, hyping up the crowd, voice solidifying like gathered honey as she sang the powerful bridge one last time. And the band rose to meet her, together building up into something incredible and mystical that Astrid felt goosebumps rise on her arms; an awed tingle down her spine.

Around her, the audience whooped and screamed. Spellbound.

This is it, she thought, her eyes never leaving the stage. This is it.
