I was extremely excited when I found out that Vanity Fair career retrospective of Sandra Oh.

Not just that. When I clicked play? There were actual captions. Not just AI captions (which some of the other retrospectives have). I don't think the impact would have been as big if it was just those automated captions popping up on screen.

(Let me know if you have the story behind those captions! Was there someone in Vanity Fair that specifically went out of their way to transcribe the video? Or was it a viewer who contributed?)

I plan on researching the K-pop fandom and community because it’s something that I’m currently very interested in, so I think I’d be very motivated to conduct good and thorough research and analysis. I’m not exactly sure if I want to focus my studies on a specific group’s fandom dynamics and culture or that of the overall K-pop community. Both options, I think, will yield interesting and eye-opening results. There are many news articles written about events of the K-pop community, including reports of something serious like illegal activity to more trivial matters like the outfit worn by a K-pop idol to an award show. I think Youtube videos, comment sections, discord servers, and reviewing many posts by fans on social media will provide enormous insight into the usual discourse of the K-pop community. I’m very excited to learn more about this community I’m a part of!
