Beastly Mirror Ritual

I know what you're thinking: What could possibly be the reason that a Ritual Monster and its associated Ritual Spell were only released in the TCG 13 years after its OCG release? Well, I have the answer for you right here. It's blood! And not even particularly well rendered blood. Looks more just like some super visible arteries. But the answer still remains: blood. Although the blood fits the card's name better (being a ritual and all), the version without it looks sleeker to me. It really does feel like they just slapped some bright red on here for "ooooo spooky evil mirror!!!!" points, when Fiend's Mirror.... Doesn't actually look that evil. The pale color scheme here also just works better together without being interrupted by a splash of hot red. I also just like the pink, dragon shaped mirror, honestly. It's cute!

Meteonis Drytron

Turns out, fans of the constellation Draco have their own entire archetype they can use. And boy do they have some gorgeous cards at their disposal. This one takes Drytron Meteonis Draconids (a pretty striking and cool card on its own) and turns it into a majestic being descending from space. Which is incredibly fitting, as it's a monster based on the Draconids, a meteor shower that appears to originate in the constellation Draco! Through the sparkly, aurora-like shine, you can actually see what looks like little blue meteors shooting outwards from the pink gaseous form at the top. I will say, it's funny that I thought Meteonis Draconids was positioned above Earth at first, before I realized the planet below seems to have four moons arounds it (unless those are meant to be other planets, but they're all pretty uniform in appearance). Love the color gradient in this, love the resplendent way Meteonis Draconids was drawn, even love all the little space details in this.

Hamburger Recipe

The bane of every normal person ever who tries to look up a recipe to make hamburgers. Didn’t know what Yugioh was before you tried finding a recipe to make dinner with? You do now. There’s no going back. Although I don’t see this card very often (because it’s a ritual spell and only used with the corresponding monster), I laugh every time I see it. The artwork is so intense for the premise of: just a guy making a hamburger. I appreciate that it’s a fiend-type monster making this very evil burger in what is either an extremely hot kitchen or somewhere hell adjacent. The intensity of their expression... The pinky finger held up... Chaotically keeping your fragile ingredients so close to the burner you’re actively using... Literally tossing the burger several feet into the air... Chef’s kiss.
