really sad that alice wong, the disability activist, died yesterday. it is really painful to see such a powerful and compassionate member of our community die. she was and still is so important to our community. she did amazing work for disabled people and for gaza. i am so grateful that we had her for as long as we did, and i am so sorry to her friends and family for this loss.
if you can, i encourage you to read her books - disability visibility: first-person stories from the twenty-first century (2020), year of the tiger: an activist's life (2022), and disability intimacy: essays on love, care, and desire (2024). her contributions to our community and world deserve to be remembered and celebrated.
