The rival children from Harvest Moon: Animal Parade! I think they’re all so adorable, I wish the newer games had a rival system!

First secret love interest: Daryl's granddaughter!
Adora
unlocked by befriending Daryl
he tells you about having lost contact with his child over a fight and never having met his granddaughter
you help making amends with said child
Adora moves to the valley shortly after and conducts experiments in the valley with her grandfather
quirky like grandad for sure
loves the sea with all her heart
you find out the fight was about Daryl claiming Adora's grandmother was a mermaid and his child thinking he just scared her away by being...well, quirky
Adora admits that despite being a very rational person she wants to believe she has a bit of magic in her
you go swimming together a lot

couldn't help myself and scribbled Mikhail and Adora in their costumes as @awlimagines describes them in their story about the pumpkin jamboree! it's such a sweet little story and inspired me a lot thank you dear!

daydreams a lot about living a more adventurous life
helplessly romantic
as the second child, she got to grow up more freely than her sister
very curious, gets scolded for being too nosy
envies her sister's former relationship without noticing that it hurt her a lot
wants to work at the blue bar but her parents won't let her (spoiler: in the end she'll get her way)
socialises in her free time and gets around a lot, on some evenings you'll find her secretly hanging out at the bar
she's intrigued with you from the get-go since you're not from the valley
you make her laugh and encourage her to trust her gut
she gains back some of her appreciation for the valley, farm-life and her family through you

an artist like his father
came back after travelling for a while, is now working on his "biggest masterpiece"
his works are inspired by the four elements and he often complains about not getting the smell of smoke out of his hair
lives and sometimes also works with his father
his mother remains unknown , though it's implied that she was a young woman helping out at the farm that is now yours
may seem very serious but is actually just shy
he asks if he can observe you work on your farm "for inspiration"

two artists - what could go wrong?
usually they peacefully enjoy the valley's nature together, but occasionally they get into heavy debates about philosophy
both don't have the guts to say how they feel but somehow they always end up in the same places at the same time
they inspire each other and are each other's biggest fan

will inherit her aunt's farm
her parents were extremely worried for her health growing up and therefore kept her from leaving the farm or working for too long
hence she's very persistent on her independence and works hard to seem strong
she dated a boy from Mineral Town who visited the valley but ended up having her heart broken
can seem very cold and stand-offish
loves her younger sister dearly but is sometimes annoyed with her naivety
once you get closer you'll be able to share your love for growing crops and working on the farm
sometimes she'll still worry you might think her weak or fragile
Rival Relationship: Ava & Edie
having polar opposite work ethics, Ava feels safe to wind down with Edie
they both are people who value their freedom a lot and fear judgement of their way of life
they are often found at the goddess pond together
as children they didn't interact much since Ava was inside her bedroom so often
they share a deep dedication and love for the valley

Even though Ava isn't the biggest theatre fan, seeing Edie perform the most beautiful Juliet makes up for spending her free night at the turtle pond. Especially because her girlfriend looks breathtaking in the costumes she's 'borrowed' from her drama club at uni. And although Ava always drops her lines, Edie stubbornly calls her the best actress she's ever seen. Maybe one day she can convince her to perform for the town?
