Emily Atack
the rivals mid-season finale caught me completely off guard. i did not see that coming at all. wow.
New quote from David talking about Rivals in Empire Magazine:
"David Tennant, whose cold, reptilian managing-director Tony Baddingham is having an affair with the American producer Cameron Cook , who is also his employee, brings it back to Cooper's writing.“
"She writes about sex very astutely," he says. We're sitting by the tea urn outside the very brown-and-orange Corinium TV station set, near some extras playing chess on their break, all festooned in polyester."
"Her characters are having a lot of sex with each other, but there's always a psychological truth that she uncovers by how they have sex, who they have sex with, and what sex means to them."
"That, I suppose, is what elevates her work above the filthy or the tawdry or the nudge nudge - it's cleverer than that," he continues. "She writes about sex often very graphically, and we portray it in the show in the same way."
"It has something to do with the human condition. Rather than just, 'Oh, look, a couple of bums."
