      The petite blonde was walking out of a her favorite froyo store when she bumped into a tall figure. a small ‘ope !’ escaped her lips, her lips parting to say sorry. until her eyes settled on the familiar face. if she weren’t 5′3 and a weak girl, she would have hit him already. her mouth dropped into a frown, her eyes narrowing.  “oh.” she said simply, “how do you always seem to be in the way, rivers?” her question rhetorical as she took a bite of her froyo. not really caring to talk to him, but she always had fun bickering with him in her own twisted way.

NIKOLAI HAD BEEN relieved when he had received gabriel as his assignment for grinch games; the two had gone shopping together not even a week prior, and it had afforded niko the opportunity to get to know his neighbor’s taste beyond a simple questionnaire. having always loved to treat his friends, he was excited to give gab his gifts. he had tried to be reasonable with his gifts, but gabriel’s expensive taste kept coming to mind. but it was his family’s money and he couldn’t be bothered to worry about the expenses if it meant getting a reaction out of gabriel that wasn’t disgust or annoyance. he spotted gabriel about to enter his room, and, figuring that this was his chance, hollered to get his attention, “hey, rivers ! i need a favor. come to my room and help me out ?”

BORED OUT OF his mind, niko had resorted to alternating between playing candy crush on his phone and testing how far he could lean back in the chair he was sitting on until it toppled over - the answer to the latter ? not very far. the lounge was fairly empty, everyone having found at least one person’s room to take over while they were trapped in east hall, and the only current occupants of the floor 3 lounge were nikolai and gabriel. though he’d be unlikely to admit it, had had been warily watching the other male for the past fifteen minutes or so -- it seemed like gabriel, who was normally poised or at least pretending to be, couldn’t keep himself still. whether it was shifty eyes scanning the empty room or the echoing tap tap tap of his shoes hitting the ground, he seemed to be constantly in motion. stuck between concern and annoyance, niko finally pushed himself off the chair and walked over to the couch gab was on, plopping himself beside him and placing his hand on gab’s knee to still it. “the intense look on your face is starting to freak me out, rivers. tell me what’s got you all tensed up before i get so annoyed that i leave . . . unless, of course, that was your plan all along.”
