River moved into Lynette's room. She doesn't touch much in it.
It goes on and on Watching the river run Further and further From things that we've done Leaving them one by one And we have just begun Watching the river run Listening And learning And yearning Run, river, run
"Watching The River Run" by Loggins And Messina
River not knowing what's normal and what isn't was in the back of my mind. I was reading Gunnerkrigg Court. This page about a fairy who'd recently turned human and enrolled in a school cracked me up. So did this page about her reaction to haircuts.
Image: Anyone And River.
In the Evil Getting To Know You: I imagine River huddled up in the corner of whatever cell. sometimes mumbling and sometimes speaking sharply. Because she's been somewhere (exactly) like it before. Part of her is a child, and part of her is you-don't-get-to-be-a-child (electronics- mechanics and sabotage- you can't fight them, so you sneak.) And so I imagine River in a fetal position, and looking at everyone like the're being weighed and measured. And when the opportunity arises, she stands. When the opportunity presents itself, she runs. If she were to see Pirates Of The Caribbean, she would nod at "any man who falls behind, stays behind." Then she'd nod again at "it's more guidelines than actual rules." Sometimes, she makes a point of leaving people behind even if she cares about them. Sometimes, she doesn't.
River: People Who Killed Lynette. Ben: Except for the people who actually did it. They're not invited 'cause fuck those guys. Challenge accepted.
