In his new film, River’s End: California’s Latest Water War, Jacob Morrison delves deep into California’s water politics. From the draining of the Owens Valley near Los Angeles to current efforts to siphon water supplies from Northern California’s San Francisco Bay estuary, River’s End takes a journey through the past and present of California’s water crisis, inspiring viewers to learn where their water comes from and to save our rivers and the ecosystems and communities that depend upon them.” In our exclusive interview with Jacob, who directed, produced and edited the film, we learn how industrial agriculture and influential corporate investors have driven family farms off the map and taken hold of precious water supplies. “A lot of people think California is made up of family farms and people working hard to grow important food for the nation. But I realized a lot of those family farms have gone out of business and been replaced by giant agricultural companies who have taken over,” he explains.
