A priest prays on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in Hampe. Visiting Hampe (or Hampi, as the Anglicised version has it) makes one feel like they're slipping into an era in the past: becoming a contemporary of emperors and subjects of the then Vijayanagara, whose land was guarded by the confluence of rivers Tunga and Bhadra on one side and defensible hills formed by rocks and boulders on the other three sides. An amusing cognitive dispute. At the confluence of the San Miguel and the Dolores rivers in western Colorado. There is a nice little dirt road that takes you along the river and can drop you off on the state highway leading to Moab.
