Forsythe Pendleton Jones III was an interesting name, but it was nothing compared to the guy it belonged to, at least in your opinion that is. He’d caught your eye a few weeks ago: tall, brooding, an edgy Serpent’s jacket paired with the sweetest of smiles. Apparently, something about you had caught his eye, too, because there you were waiting for him to pick you up for your first date. The rumble of the bike alerted you to his approach and your eyes widened. For whatever reason, you hadn’t considered that. Your nerves calmed as he came to a stop in front of you, green eyes sparkling and that easy smile spreading across his face.
Knife part 1
“Its been a long time since jughead and i broke up, theres nothing between us” i try to reassure Josh, my boyfriend, i dont want him to hit me again, the bruises have barely healed from last time “likely story” he scoffs, I know that look in his eyes. Its gonna happen again, he shoves me into the locker and slaps me “josh” my voice cracks as i tear up, he throws me to the floor and storms off, i lay there, stunned and in pain, i lift my hand to my cheek, which stings from where his hand brutally slapped me. I stay on the floor but i inch towards a locker to lean against, i start ballong my eyes out. I punch the lockertry to blink away the tears. “Betty?” I immediately recognise the voice “Betty are you okay?” He runs towards me, i turn to him “yeah, i’m fine juggie”. “Well you clearly arent” “its just Josh” i shrug. “what happened, did he hurt you?” I toss up whether to lie or not “no, no no no god no” i smile and hold back tears “why’d you pause?” He asks, i can see the worry in his eyes. “I dont know” my eyes bounce around the room “betty i know you’re lying” he touches my shoulder gentley, but pain still spreads through my body, from the last tome Josh beat me “ow” i gasp and take his hand off my shoulder “betty, show me your shoulder” he sounds assertive, yet caring “theres nothing there” i gulp “then you’ll have no problem showing me”. I sigh and lift up my sleeve, revealing a huge bruise “betty... where did this bruise come from?” He asks “Josh” i say quietly “what?” I see the anger in his eyes. He stands up “i am going to kill that asshole” he curls his lips and runs down the hall. I chase after him. Jughead approaches Josh angrily, josh turns around to face him and jughead punches him across the face “what the hell?” Josh yells and shoves jughead into a locker. The tumble around for a bit until Josh gets out a knife and stabs Jughead in the arm “Jughead!” I scream and run to him, josh drops the knife and sprints away. I hole jughead in my arms and call an ambulance. I start rocking him and crying, his blood seeps through my shirt “jughead, you’re gonna be okay, you’re gonna be okay, dear god please be okay”i put my face on his chest and cry more, my tears drench his shirt, he’s still here but in shock. After a few minutes an ambulance arrives.

Part One || Part Two
I sat silently in the back seat of the car, peering out of the window seeing nothing but trees and forest. Dads eyes were focussed on the road and he was drumming his fingers on the steering wheel. Every so often he would shift in his seat and glance at me in the rear view mirror.
The gates for Thornhill appeared in front of the car as we rounded a corner and my stomach sank. A sheen of cold sweat covered my forehead and my hands began to shake. I hadn’t been to Thornhill since I was 13-years old, despite the parties that Cheryl and her late-brother Jason had thrown. I had always managed to get out of going with my friends.
The gates were open and dad slowly drove the car up the long driveway. His fingers were fidgeting even more than before and when he reached for the handbrake I could see his fingers tremble slightly. He climbed out of the car and walked around to my door, opening it and waited for me to get out. When I didn’t move he leaned in and unbuckled my seatbelt and grabbed my hand firmly pulling me from the car.
I reluctantly followed in his footsteps toward the large front doors, feeling like my feet weighed one-hundred tons. The door swung open and Mr. Blossom stood in the opening, staring at my father with a smug smile on his lips. He moved to the side and swept his arm toward the lobby, gesturing for us to cross the threshold. My dad stepped forward but my feet were stuck to the ground, making my father turn and yank on my arm. I flew forward, crashing into my father’s side and he pulled me into the house and followed Mr. Blossom down a long corridor.
“You know if you just paid your debts, I wouldn’t have to do this.” Clifford teased my father. I silently gagged, bile rising in my throat before I forced it back down. We descended a long flight of stairs and were now walking along another corridor.
“I know, I ran into some trouble with a project that fell through… I never thought I’d have to do this again… I promised myself I wouldn’t do this again..” my father was rambling, mostly to himself.
After what felt like an eternity, we stopped walking, and Mr. Blossom pulled a bronze key from his pocket, unlocking the door in front of us. We must be right underneath the centre of the house; it was cold and smelled damp.
The door swung open and the room suddenly felt all too familiar. I had had nightmares about this room; the wooden bed in the middle of the room, the restraints tied to each bedpost, the camera tripod set up in the corner of the room. The nightmares came flooding back to me and hit me like a freight train. The door was locked behind us. My knees gave way and as I began to fall to the floor my father caught me by the elbow and hauled me back up.
Clifford Blossom walked around my father and me to face us. He pulled me out of my father’s grip and pushed me down on the bed. My dad stayed where he was, watching, frozen, expressionless. My Pink Floyd t-shirt was ripped from collar to hem and my jeans were roughly pulled down my legs. My adrenaline kicked in and I began to kick out my legs and swing my arms violently.
“Control your girl!” Mr. Blossom yelled at my father as he attempted to tie the restraints around my wrists. I felt my dad tie the cuffs around my ankles and suddenly my limbs were lifeless. I could do nothing to stop what was happening. I never thought this would happen again; it had been four years since the last time, the longest break since it started nine years ago.
I looked over to my father, pleading with my eyes to help me, to stop this, but he just stared blankly over my head. I could see Mr. Blossom unbuckling his belt and pull his trousers and boxers down. He palmed at himself for a second before stalking toward me. I looked toward the ceiling, pressing my lips together as a tear fell from the corner of my eye down to my earlobe.
I felt a searing pain as he entered me and began to move immediately. The pain was hot and felt like a lightning rod splitting my whole body into a million pieces. I scrunched my eyes shut as my breaths came short and sharp through my nose, my lips still pressed into a thin line. My fists were clenched into tight balls, my fingernails scratching at the cuffs on my wrists, the cuffs themselves biting into my skin as I strained against the restraints.
I sat on my bed, back pressed against the wall, legs pulled up to my chest. My head rested on the wall behind me and my eyes gazed, unfocused, on where the ceiling met the wall.
Archie: I’m coming over with DVDs and take out from Pops! Be ready in thirty minutes! :-)
I picked up my phone from the pillow next to me, groaning when I read the message. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to see my best friend, but I hadn’t slept since yesterday and guessed that I looked a mess.
I trudged to the bathroom and assessed my state in the mirror. My eyes were red-rimmed and puffy, my cheeks blotchy, and my hair looked like a birds nest. Looking down, my wrists were bruised and had cuts along them. I curled my wrists, feeling their stiffness. I gingerly stepped into the shower and let the cold water rush over me.
Walking back into my room I pulled on a pair of black leggings, a longline top and a zip up hoodie. I brushed my hair and plaited it down the back.
I could hear voices downstairs and stopped on the landing to listen. “What do you mean she hasn’t been downstairs yet? It’s nearly 3pm…this is more Jughead’s behavior…” “I know man, but I’m telling you, I haven’t seen her yet..”
The voices belonged to Archie and Jasper. Just as I began to descend the final few steps, Archie rounded the bannister and looked up at me; “you ok? Jasper said you slept in…” I nodded, a smile balancing precariously on my lips. He took a step closer, standing on the bottom step and narrowed his eyes; “you look a bit tired…” I rolled my eyes and took a step down toward him, grabbing his hand and pulling him into the lounge.
Jasper followed us in uninvited and flopped into the armchair; “so, what are we watching?” He asked in a sing-song voice.
“Lord of the Rings box set” Archie stated excitedly, already inserting the first disc and turning on the tv. Jasper groaned but made no move to get up. I tucked myself into the corner of the couch, pulling my knees up to my chest and hugging my arms around them, leaving three-quarters of the couch for Archie. My eyes became unfocused as my mind played re-runs of Thornhill.
“Right, are you ready?” Archie exclaimed, turning from the screen to take his seat next to me, and frowned when his eyes fell on me. He glanced over at Jasper who caught his eye and in turn flicked his eyes to me. He turned his whole body towards me and slowly leaned forward so that his elbows rested on his knees.
I blinked and refocused my eyes to see my best friend and my brother staring at me, concerned. I tried to roll my eyes and smile, letting them know that I was alright, but as I tried to force my lips into a smile, something inside me snapped and tears rolled down my cheeks and I buried my face in my hands, feeling the material of my hoodie pulled up over my palms. I felt the sofa dip as one of them sat down next to me. An arm wrapped around my shoulders while a hand ran up and down my arm, and another hand stroked my hair.
My body trembled violently as the tears finally escaped, I could feel the two boys glancing between my broken form and each other, lost for what to do.
The front door slammed. My body stiffened and I lifted my head, wiping furiously at my cheeks. “Where is everybody?” My dad called from the corridor, almost as if he was shouting ‘honey I’m home’ in a cheesy 50s sitcom.
I sank further into the sofa cushions; a movement that didn’t go unnoticed my Archie and Jasper, who exchanged worried looks once again, and then both focussed their eyes on mine. I shook my head, trying to tell them to drop it, but they were having none of it. They had always known something was wrong, ever since I had stopped talking so suddenly when I was 8-years old.
