Chert, Day 86, Part 4

For some reason, the table they had the cake it seemed very intersectable - first Adie and Morgan played cops and robbers through it, then Teeny put Seby down in the middle of it. But he managed to grow up regardless, so that's okay.

I have started getting fruit and veg delivered from Riverford. The flavour of their oranges is off the hook, and this made me think of propagating a plant from one of the seeds. I have two grapefruit seeds that I will soak, and wrap in damp paper towel, see if they sprout! I know that lemon and limes are easiest, so will buy some before the season is over and try them too. The blood oranges look amazing but I can’t get my hands on them, always sold out!

This (sadly) is not one of my recipes but I had to share it with you guys because I am in awe. I’ve started making up a huge batch of this at the start of the week and adding it to everything I eat that week as I love it so much. This is not for those who dislike garlic, however if you are trying to get in to kale and have found it difficult I think this is a great transitional or ‘training’ dish as the sauce overwhelms the kale’s irony taste.

Ginger & Ryan Newson, Day 86, Part 2

Ginger, you should probably get off your video games and pay attention to your grandchildren? Maybe?

Landry, Day 86, Part 3

Vince: So, you must've cooked loads of mac and cheese in your time, right?

Dot: Is that an insult about my age, or a hint?

Vince: A hint, a hint! I still can't get the hang of this stove. Be an angel and try for me?

Dot: Alright...

Dot: There's nothing wrong with this stove, you wimp!

Dot: So I heard your brother went to jail-

Vince: Yeah. I'd rather not talk about him, really. He always was an idiot. His girlfriend's well rid. She didn't seem to mind when I told her that... did mind when I tried to say hello to my new niece or nephew she's got cooking, though...

Vince: You wanna stay the night?

Dot: Don't mind if I do.

Dot: I'd better get to work.

Vince: Alright. Thanks for answering my call. And the mac and cheese.

Vince has dispensed with the goth look - he reckons it made him look too soft. So he's shaved his hair off and got a tattoo - which you can't see from this angle. This is Garrett and Rainbow's foster baby's mum calling him here. I don't know where they met, but she sure calls him a lot! That would be a match made in hell...

Vince's poker den still won't earn him any stars.

Vince took Dot home with him and she stayed the night. In the morning, he decided to change his image and then headed out to open up his poker den.

Tolane, Day 86, Part 4

Nova: Hi Grandpa Scot!

Scot: Hi sweetheart. Is your mama here?

Nova: No, Lexi brought us. Mama and Mummy and Daddy are getting ready for the littlies birthday.

Lexi: Is this an apparition I see before me? Juan Mateo Knowe, out and about on a Saturday morning. What happened to dance class?

Teo: We had a show last night, so we've got today off. Back at it tomorrow, though.

Jesse: Why can't you even catch? What are you, special or something?

Rae: That's not very nice. I don't want to play with you anymore.

Jesse: Fine by me - who'd want to play with a baby like you, anyway?

Jett: Hi Lexi! Look how fast I'm going!

Scot: That's it, get those hands under the ball!

Jett: Whee!

Nova: Yeah, we have a TV, but we don't really have any channels - we just use it to play video games.

Lexi decided it might be a good idea to get some of her younger siblings out from underfoot, since the adults have a triple birthday party to prepare for.

Vince: I've missed you!

Dot: Steady on, kid.

Vince: So I probably shouldn't've gone off at you last time I saw you-

Dot: Is that your version of an apology?

Vince: Um...

Dot: I guess I just need to remember how young you are, and how much your development of relationships has been stunted-

Vince: Hey!

Dot: Tell me it's not true, though. The only relationships you ever saw as a kid was your dad with his wives, and that was pretty messed up, right? You didn't go on any dates yourself until you were, what, seventeen? And how old are you now?

Vince: Twenty two.

Dot: Shit. ... My son going to college makes me realise just how young you are!

Vince: That's not a problem, though, right?

Dot: I guess not... I just need to temper my expectations. And I shouldn't've come and woken you up in the middle of the night just to yell at you when I was drunk.

Vince: Nah, probably not.

Vince: So... are we good?

Dot: Yeah, we're good.

Vince: You wanna come back to mine?

Dot: Maybe later. That's your truck parked out front, isn't it?

Vince is glad he and Dot are good again. Sure, he's got other girls to date when they're on the outs, but... there's just something about that Older Woman thing she's got going on that just does it for him, you know?

Penn & Sara Cooke, Day 86, Part 3

Aurora: ... and I met a boy called Jett and he said no one called him anything for short because Jett's already short enough!

Sara: Ryan, what do you want to do today?

Orion: Ona be sma.

Sara: Huh?

Aurora: He said-

Orion: Not talka me, Wory! N'like id!

Aurora: I'm just trying to help-

Orion: Not wan you a hel!

Sara: Sorry, Ryan can you say that again? Slowly, and focus on getting that last sound on your words.

Orion: I. Wanna. Smard. ... Cuz I dumb.

Sara: You're not dumb, sweetheart. You just find talking a little tricky-

Orion: An' weadin', an' wighin', an umbus, an'... an'... an' all da fing!

Sara: Well, I know they've opened up a new Education Centre in Widespot. Why don't we check it out - it sounds to me like a place where you could do some learning in a fun way.

Orion: Yeah. Go dere!

Aurora: Can I come?

Orion: No, Wory! Me not wan you!

Penn: You and me already had a trip out, didn't we, Rory? Why don't we let this be Ryan's thing with Granny?

Aurora: Yeah, okay.

Orion: Who you?

Tommy: My name's Mr Ottomas.

Orion: You boss?

Tommy: Yeah, I'm the boss.

Orion: You hel me a be smard?

Tommy: Hi Charlie - do you want to listen to the story too?

Orion: Issa goodun!

Possibly having the TV as backround noise isn't all that helpful...
