( I couldn't sit through the first episode, other then a few of the sets and Camila being 5'2 ((So she's shorter then the core 5 in the comics, but I'm going to draw Ronnie like this now)), this shot was cute. anyways going to probably draw some outfits from the comics)
What happened to SweetPea?
pea brain: riverdale has good representation
big brain: riverdale tries to include diversity but executes it miserably. the only main characters of color are a family of mobsters, the only chubby girl gets turned into an unlikable antagonist with no redemption in sight, and one of the main characters coming-out story line involves her stalking and threatening another girl, which is never really addressed or resolved in any way. the other gay character is reduced to a stereotype starting in the first 20 seconds of the show, which translates through the entire series. An attempt at his character development ultimately gets overshadowed by the plot and other characters. He is considered a main character but has significantly less screen time. Finally, the one established wlw couple gets 1 (one) on-screen kiss, which is the same, if not less, than non-established hetero pairings in nearly half a season of screen time. It deems itself “woke” and even the characters consider themselves feminists, but a lot of things could have been easily solved with more regard to the people they were trying to include.
