Geese - October 2021 Depending on weather and drought, large flocks of Canada Geese stop by Riverview Park in Marshalltown for a few days to a few months on their way south. They can be very noisy and very messy, but they are also very beautiful. MWM
Chicago’s Riverview Park
“Laugh Your Troubles Away” was the motto of Chicago’s Riverview Park. Riverview opened on July 2, 1904. Although Riverview was on the north side, it attracted thousands of kids and adults from all over Chicagoland and beyond, who loved the place. Riverview was most known for the Bobs wooden roller coaster. Other popular coasters were The Comet, The Silver Flash, The Fireball and the Jetstream. Aladdin's Castle was a classic fun house with a collapsing stairway, mazes and turning barrel. Shoot the Chutes, Hades, the Rotor, Tilt-a-Whirl, Wild Mouse, the Mill on the Floss (Tunnel of Love), and Flying Turns were just a few of the many classic rides. Riverview closed October 3, 1967. Info is from Wikipedia. Photos are from the Chicago Tribune.
