Riven’s expression was rather stoic. At some point what actually happened in the trial would spread around and then be butchered because of some bad game of telephone. People will take whatever truth sounds the most interesting.
“What I believed wasn’t real. It was a lie for someone’s slaughter. I can’t betray what wasn’t there from the start.”
// Riven’s feelings towards magic at first were the widely accepted that it should be used as a weapon. However, after Darkwill she changed her view of it. It could be used as a weapon, but like any form of power it could consume anyone and anything and destroy them from the inside out. She knows little of it outside of what she’s seen and her sword and she’s comfortable keeping it that way.
“So long I’ve wandered..” Riven stepped forward as the only sound besides her voice was the rocks crunching beneath her feet resonated in her ears. The mountains echoed every move she made and even with all the sound, it felt empty.
“If I sit still then nothing will get done, but the longer I wander...the more I grow lost. What am I suppose to do about that?”
She stepped over a pile of rocks, carefully so as to not lose her footing. The sun formed a perfect circle behind the clouds. She was able to look at it without harming her eyes. Below past the rocky wasteland was a forest. A way to get away from the oncoming rain, the thunder was already beginning to speak. With one step forward her footstep echoed, but so did something else. They were heavy and they where coming. She turned around and on the face of the mountain was a shadow. “What conflict awaits?”
The beast roared as it finally came into view. The core of it seemed to be made of fire and forming it’s body where thick vines and branches. It had no face, no eyes Riven could look into. She couldn’t help but think it was unthinking. She reached for her blade on her back and readied herself. From the way it went on, it did not seem to be a passing creature.
Once close enough it took one swing at her. Ever light on her feet, Riven moved and activated her shield for the next incoming blow. It sent her to the ground. She looked up as the creature raised both it’s fists high above its head. As it screamed she got to her feet and ran at it. She slide blow it avoiding the slam. The exile let out a burst of her ki and stunned the creature.
“There is no other way.” She thrust her sword in it’s just and the fire seemed to spill onto her blade. Taking it out she made one powerful swing and then another as she spun on her heal. The beast let out a cry of pain and hobbled backwards away. With it’s body opened she ran to it and flipped forward she stuck her blade straight down the middle.
The fire from the center moved up around her from her blade to her finger tips. It did not burn, if felt like it empowered her, she physically felt stronger, but-
“Damn,” she gripped her side already feeling blood from when the monster hit her. “How long can I go on like this? How should I proceed?” She kept her hand on her side and looked to the sky. The thunder grew louder, at one point she enjoyed the rain it washed away her doubts, but now only seem to be a mirror of her mind.
The forest had leaves, leaves she could use to heal herself. All she had to do was keep going. A flash of lighting went so close to her she lifted her blade to defend herself. Not soon after thundered followed. The fire from the creature had all but faded away. Her footsteps were alone again and still with all the noise it was empty.
Another flash and then thunder. Riven looked up the sky with malice. “Enough!” She yelled. The exile hung her head and walked forward. “No looking back. No more hesitation. Leave doubt behind.”
The cool droplets of water finally reached her. It started off flow and steady and then it grew heavy. Her footsteps were drowned out by the sound of the water. As she kept her eyes cast downward the grew of the rock soon turned green. The softness of the soil was felt beneath her feet. “It must come to pass.”
// Riven in her time spent alone grew to start talking to herself. Not necessarily responding, more like a monologue out loud. Her quotes, ‘So long I’ve wondered’ and ‘How should I proceed’ are examples of that.
// Riven can be motherly, especially towards children. But she won’t treat them like their unintelligent or anything. The same way she was with her soldiers everyone has strengths in a different way. Children show intelligence in a different way and she understands that.
Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
// Riven would dress light, nothing to out there she would like to be able to move. Also would wear something her burn on her left forearm.
