Just coming back from the menorah lighting, Will was in search of a drink. He wasn’t Jewish, but he was definitely interested in traditions outside of his own realm of experience. Since it was open to the public, it felt like he could go for the experience without being disruptive or rude. Will was a fan of the holiday season, even if he wasn’t gonna be home this year. He’d gone home last year, and he was going to video chat in this year. It wasn’t the same, since only about half of his family members could actually hold a decent conversation over facetime, but it was better than nothing.
Walking up to the bar, he waited his turn before saying, “Hey, could I try one of those Grinch cocktails?” Eggnog was a classic for the season, but he figured since he was in a new place, he might as well try something new. It looked like spiked hot chocolate was also an option, but honestly, it was so warm here that Will didn’t know who would want it. A nice thought, perfect for Chicago winters for sure. This tropical island paradise? Not so much.
Taking his drink, Will thanked the bartender before moving off to make room for the next customers. He meandered around the place, admiring the lights. He hadn’t quite decided yet if he was going to stay somewhat late for the fireworks. On the plus side, they would be pretty. On the minus side, he wasn’t sure if he’d end up wandering around alone the whole rest of the night. After awhile, his drink was gone. “Hm, I wonder if these guys are recyclable,” he mused, turning the cup upside down to look for any indication on the bottom. He was no stranger to talking to himself, but typically he refrained from it in public.
