i'm looking through a Swedish textbook I'll be using to teach. and lo and behold, I find this text. a text called "Deadly Fashion".
yep. the first paragraph is about corsets. about how they were tools of oppressing women. about how painful they were, how women couldn’t breathe or move, how they would constantly faint. how they would REMOVE THEIR RIBS TO BE SLIMMER. all for that fashionable slim waist!
I'm fucking livid. Why is this major textbook propagating those stupid, BLATANTLY UNRESEARCHED, fashion history myths? And how tf am I supposed to use this to teach without punching a wall?!
