Peel Regional Police in Ontario are searching for an 11-year-old girl last seen in a silver Honda Civic heading east on Highway 401. The car’s licence plate is ARBV 598.
Peel Regional Police in Ontario have cancelled an Amber Alert previously issued for an 11-year-old girl.

I am absolutely DISGUSTED with some of the residents in my province.
Last night at around 11:30PM a lot of us received an AMBER alert regarding the abduction of 11 year old Riya Rajkumar. The alert relayed that she was kidnapped by her father out of the Peel Region, and went on to describe the vehicle. Roughly around 12AM authorities were contacted by an individual who had spotted a vehicle that matched the description they had recieved through the AMBER Alert system in Orillia - roughly 1.5h away from Peel Region. Meanwhile SEVERAL citizens of Ontario HAD THE AUDACITY to contact the police because they were annoyed that they were woken up by the alert.
This is utterly inexcusably sickening behaviour and ultimately I am BEYOND disappointed with the response from these selfish individuals. AMBER Alerts can SAVE LIVES. Unfortunately that was not the case last night. However, I don't give a FLYING FUCK if you were annoyed upon being woken up or startled by it. Your abrupt panicked upset was NOTHING compared to what 11 year old Riya Rajkumar, her family and friends went through last night. Without that alert, her father and her whereabouts would not have been located.
In addition to this, some people were annoyed that this was an Ontario wide alert. Keep in mind THEY WERE FOUND IN ORILLIA!!! AN HOUR AND A HALF AWAY FROM PEEL!!! If they drove just an hour further they would have been in my town. What I'm getting to is that AS A PROVINCE - AS A COMMUNITY it is OUR responsibility to look after our people, OUR CHILDREN! If you knew Riya you can be DAMN SURE that you would have wanted everyone woken up if it meant finding her whereabouts.
Yesterday was Valentine's day AND Riya Rajkumar's birthday. It was supposed to be a very special day for Riya and her family. My heart shattered when I received the alert, and I was beyond devastated this morning when I found out authorities found her dead.
Riya Rajkumar's life was infinitely more important than your sleep, Ontario.
I cannot even imagine what her family and dear ones are going through right now. Rest in peace sweet angel.
At around 12:30 a.m. Friday, the amber alert was cancelled.
An 11-year-old girl, who was the subject of an amber alert Thursday night, has been found dead inside a Brampton home.
At around 11 p.m., officers said they were investigating a parental abduction in the area of Hurontario Street and Derry Road in Mississauga.
At the time, officers said they were searching for Riya Rajkumar and her father, 41-year-old Roopesh Rajkumar, in a 2005 silver two-door Honda Civic.
The young girl did not reside with her father on a full-time basis, according to investigators.
“Roopesh Rajkumar was to ensure his daughter returned to be with her mother by a certain time but failed to do so,” a news release issued by police on Thursday night said. “Roopesh has since made comments indicating he was going to harm himself and his daughter.”
At around 12:30 a.m. Friday, the amber alert was cancelled.
Police then said the girl was found deceased inside a Brampton home and confirmed the homicide and missing persons bureau had taken over the investigation.
Roopesh Rajkumar was taken into police custody.
No charges have been laid.

I am ashamed of my province; so much so that I’m actually quoting a Maclean’s article!
But we have grown so entitled to our comforts, we’ve forgotten that we have to pay for them, that we bear collective responsibilities. We can’t be bothered to vote. We resent paying taxes for public goods. We volunteer in our community less and less. And now we even begrudge having to help save the life of a child.
