OH MY SUMMER.

in less than a week, rose and the rest of the royal trainees ( minus some of the boys, who were busy filming dream knight ) were headed to gangneung for the weekend. their evaluation wasn’t an evaluation, more so a vacation. a much needed vacation. rose was somewhat dumbfounded when this month’s “theme” was released. surely there’s a hidden motive behind all of this that everyone isn’t aware of. maybe they were going to be forced to perform in front of a large crowd or something. this couldn’t just be a vacation for the weekend, that’s a weekend wasted in the eyes of a large corporation, right? 

still, the questions floating around in rose’s mind didn’t stop her from going ahead and prepping for the ... evaluation. throughout the week, she and a couple of the girls had been heading to nearby stores and stocking up on what they needed. their pension in gangneung was supposedly near by to a beach, so rose figures some cute swimwear and beach outfits are in order, along with a hat and some sunglasses. towels and sunscreen too, surely? 

rose glances up at the sign that hangs over head of the entry way to the department store. in tow today, she has yoojung. rose was hopeful that she might be able to tick the rest of the things off of her list and maybe help yoojung out with whatever she needed. she looks down at the girl at her side, arms linked together. “where should we begin?” rose asks, pursing her lips. “clothing? snacks? pool tubes?” she shrugs, raising an eyebrow.

the announcement regarding the sphere family’s vacation came at the divine, perfect timing for saerom; just when she needed it the most. although she was doing her best to resolve her own problems, which was ... working, slowly, a weekend away from everything seemed to be a very good, healthy idea. not just for her, but everyone else. training for months on end didn’t do any favours for anyone. although despite the berating from numerous doctors, saerom wasn’t going to stop moving any time soon. even if her mental health was doing a number on her.

upon hearing that their vacation destination was a lake, saerom’s mind immediately goes to an activity that might make some people scream. camping. saerom though, likes the idea of going on a camp. connecting with nature, getting your hands dirty; it sounded like fun. although it’s quickly revealed that saerom and the other trainees will be staying at a summer pension by the lake. well, that was a bit nicer than pitching a tent ... but maybe they would have the opportunity to pitch a tent at least once. they could make a challenge out of it?

“is it weird that i’m sort of bummed out that we’re not camping?” saerom murmurs, looking down at a haphazardly written list on a random notepad of hers. “y’know, i thought a lake was a prime destination to pitch a tent. we could of made a competition out of it, unnie.” saerom says with a pout, to minhee. the two had decided to pair up in attempt to get everything they needed for the vacation. not that they would need anything substantial. although saerom’s still trying to work out if she should splurge on some hiking boots and some camping gear, for laughs at least.

A tragedy he might easily call it. A twist of fate oh so cruel, but in some way bound to happen eventually. Although he had never supposed for it to happen in this way. Leisurely playing a children’s game of hide and seek was one thing -- he could handle that much without trouble and honestly it sounded nice to get a bit of peace and quiet while the searcher was doing their job, but all that peace and quiet was ruined with the cloth tied around his wrist, connecting him to another person. 

And of course it wasn’t just any person. 

Feeling Hojung tug at the rope trying to adjust himself in their hiding place while he himself was keeping a lookout, the artist let out an audible groan as he tried his best not to snap at the other to keep fucking still or he was going to chop off his hand. Somehow he felt as though such words weren’t really going to fix the whole issue of their current relationship, a thing that Youngjae had been very conscious about since pretty much making the other hate his guts. It was a bit well deserved he supposed. Just a bit. But Hojung had definitely also been overreacting so he wasn’t totally at fault here. Realising he was giving the guy a complex glare of having to decide whether he was annoyed or apologetic he turned his head away very obviously trying to avoid eye contact. Well this was one whole mess. “Listen, I...” he began, and then let out another groan and changed to “I’m not--” which also didn’t lead him anywhere. “Anyway. If you keep moving around like that you’re gonna get us both busted.” A coward. He was a goddamned coward, but it was so hard to simply just apologise for being a dick.

In general since he had become a trainee Hwanwoong’s days could only be described as long and full of activity. Today was no different, but it still felt like a whole other world he had stepped into the moment he stepped in on the grounds of the ski resort. Honestly he never thought that he’d be spending his summer skiing of all things, but it had been great fun and now he was absolutely exhausted. But the day was far from over. It was shortly after dinner when Hwanwoong had pulled out the deck of cards that were going to shape his fate from here on out -- Uno.

Recruiting someone had not been difficult, and now he sat with Gray before him, his opponent apparently deeply focused on the cards. It was just then that a surprisingly evil smirk appeared on Hwanwoong’s expression, a face that he only rarely ever made if ever, and with large movements he placed a card down on the pile. “Draw four cards hyung! And with that I change the colour to red!”

TIME OF OUR LIFE.

today had been extremely event and activity filled, in all of the right ways. the group of trainees had enjoyed a day out at the beach, playing games and combing the sandy shores for shells. it was strange not having to worry about tomorrow’s schedule. rose was so used to rushing home and showering after a day of training. having to prep herself for the following day, to do it all over again. tonight though, was different. the group had come home and enjoyed a night socialising over a barbecue dinner. everyone took it in turns of grilling the meat, secrets and jokes were shared. rose hadn’t expected any of this when she stumbled off of the bus this morning.

the night is winding down. some trainees are still out on the pension’s balcony, enjoying the view and what’s left of the company. rose is one of those trainees. it’s as though she’s trying to hold on to the view and the stars, the fresh air and the ocean breeze that blows off of the water that isn’t too far away. she’s going to miss this. she wasn’t too sure when she would have an experience like this again; a weekend that is spent amongst good company, in a beautiful place. she knows she should probably be getting herself up and off to bed, though. it is getting late.

rose glances down at the watch on her wrist, pursing her lips. she looks across to soohyun, who is beside her. soohyun and rose were lucky to be rooming together, along with jisoo and yoojung. this trip made rose feel that little bit closer to the royal girls and as time goes on, she’s hopeful that one day, maybe, they’ll be able to debut together. “i don’t want this weekend to end,” rose murmurs under her breath, looking up at the stars for the umpteenth time. “it’s too nice to end.”

HIDE & SEEK.

after a rather filling breakfast and a bit of down time, saerom and her fellow trainees head into a quaint, themed village for today’s activity which is revealed as a game of hide and seek. saerom is immediately enthused, having played hide and seek a lot with her younger sister when they were both still kids. although it’s not that simple. it couldn’t be that simple, there always had to be a twist. it’s revealed that for the duration of the activity and onwards into the day, they would be tied to someone. so, twenty four hours tied to someone challenge only it wasn’t that.

she finds out that her partner for both hide and seek and the rest of the day’s activities is none other than sphere entertainment’s maknae, mark. saerom is a little ... nervous. she doesn’t really know mark and he doesn’t really know her either, so as to how this day go’s ahead is really going to depend on how patient they are with one another. saerom makes her way over to mark, hands tucked into the back pocket’s of her denim shorts. “hey,” saerom opens with, attempting to seem welcoming and friendly with a warm smile. “it’s mark, right? i’m ... saerom, if that wasn’t obvious.” 

she doesn’t know how they’re going to go about being attached to one another. is it going to be a day of ... hand ... holding? are they going to be tied together at the ankle or perhaps the wrist. saerom purses her lips. “so, how did you wanna go about this? ankle? hand? wrist?”
