June 2019 evaluation preparation for week two
The single word ‘variety’ had carried so much more weight than he would ever have anticipated for it to bear. Hwanwoong knew in his logical mind that it was only a natural part of being an idol to be able to entertain in other ways than just through performances alone, and that a boring idol would automatically become someone unpopular, but somehow the whole concept had seemed like it belonged in an entirely different world. At least that was until they had been busted during their performance as the music had changed and they had been thrown straight into a course of the infamous random play dance.
He supposed it made much more sense now why such an unreasonable task had been placed upon them, for no one was anticipating them to succeed in the first place, but somehow Hwanwoong would have much preferred if it had simply been a performance month. Three dances in a week wasn’t much of a trouble to him, especially not when he didn’t have to focus on learning lyrics either -- although they might not be practiced to complete perfection. This was something he dreaded instead.
It was already the second week of the month and although they had made it sound simple enough (showcase one or more personal talent) the dancer couldn’t help but wonder what he could possibly showcase. Did he truly have a personal talent that wasn’t a performance skill to show off to everyone else? There had been a question like this once before, hadn’t there? Somewhere way back in the day, back before he had been a trainee and was just a hopeful applying to follow the path of his dreams. What had he even written back then? Probably just stupid things he thought of at the spur of the moment and couldn’t actually follow well through with if they came into practice.
Not holding back a sigh Hwanwoong realised how much of a predicament he found himself in, because while he certainly could just come up short, it felt like he would find himself even more at a loss than he did before, especially after last month’s incredible blunder. Perhaps he could do something related to dance and just mask it as something unrelated. Almost as if struck by lightning Hwanwoong figured it all out in an instant. Admittedly he hadn’t practiced house in a long time, but the movements still remained inside his body and with a bit of practice he was sure that he could get the hang of the quick foot movements it involved. Suddenly he felt much more relieved than he had been before. Granted being able to move his feet really fast was probably not that impressive a feet for a dancer, but it was what he had right now and it was what they had to accept for him to be doing.
