⭐️Superstar KTWorld audition
acting out this chosen script
february 2019
when first submitting his application, jinyoung’s first thought is that he might be considered too old for this. for deciding to start over again and try getting signed by a company. there’s no assurance this will even work and if it does it might just be a one-time acting gig, which he wouldn’t frown upon since he does need the money (desperately so). he can’t afford to be as selective as he used to be, nor as snobbish. he looked down on idols for the longest time, until he was thrown into their world unprepared and witnessed just how harsh and unforgiving it is.
he still has his pride and dignity to protect but a pepero script will not deter him from the prospect of an extra pay check. quite the contrary, actually, it gives him the determination necessary to take it as seriously as he would any other audition. he’s done countless acting since his first year of high school. some modeling too despite it not being his main area of expertise. if they want a younger, more cheerful personality he’s going to have to prove to them that underneath his serious facade, actor park jinyoung is convincing enough to shape himself into whatever they need him to be. isn’t it what acting is all about?
he gets to the location rather confident, and relieved it’s in yongsan so he’ll be able to make a quick stop home before running to the café for his afternoon shift. there he greets junhee, chats him up a bit and even meets an old friend from his high school days. he almost didn’t recognize her, or rather didn’t dare to ask in case he was mistaken. he also wishes nahee good luck right when her turns come, hoping she’ll do well and won’t regret coming in the first place. he didn’t want to force her hand, he just... thinks she might need a little extra push in order to make the move. if neither of them gets it they can always laugh it off over drinks.
“next!” that’s him. with pursed lips and tense shoulders, jinyoung walks into the room and greets the staff with a bow. he’s memorized the script very easily, and despite not being very expressive around strangers, he knows the jittery feeling of being in love, he knows the feeling of falling for someone unavailable like the boy he needs to act as. so it really isn’t that hard to put himself in character and revert back to his younger, more naive self. “my name is park jinyoung,” he introduces himself before acting out his chosen script. as soon as he gets into character he relaxes completely, turning to his right so they see his profile as if he’s looking into the distance as he delivers the first line. there’s a soft, thin smile when his head turns to look at them. he tries not to lock eyes with anyone specifically while still making it seem as if he’s speaking to them directly.
there’s no doubt he’s done this before, but it still doesn’t mean he’s the kind of face they’re searching for. still, he’s chosen the more mature-sounding one of the two so he thinks if they offered both it must be because they’re not just going for the very cutesy boys. he’s still hopeful when he walks back out. auditions are a difficult and cutthroat process and sometimes even if you’re the best one out there it doesn’t work out. he’s aware of that, aware of the possibility he might be rejected but still satisfied with his performance.
The air feels eerie as the two of them make it back to the train station. Gentleman he is, Hoseok of course had insisted to accompany Nahee on her way after the two had been out for dinner, talking about all and nothing. Unfortunately for the scaredy cat photographer the talk had fallen onto horror movies as well, leaving him now with a lingering feeling of uneasiness.
The fact their path lead them through a dimly lit park did not do much to ease those irrational fears. A sudden noise of movement made the photographer jump, eyes snapping into the direction of the noise as he subtly stepped closer to the female beside him.
oh god. she logs into the game convinced she did everything right when she played alone yesterday only to realize the pumpkins nahee so carefully planted and took care of are dead. it shouldn’t be long until the older joins her and witnesses this mess but it’s not like she can do anything about it. she could lie and pretend they magically got ripe overnight and she harvested them, leaving the obvious mystery or what she did with them once it’s clear the money isn’t collected at the end of the day.
she isn’t a liar, right? she’s going to own up to it again. they’re playing for fun... right? she’s never been one to enjoy video games a lot except when she can play with other people. it’s just a fun experience with friends and family but she will never really do it on her own. for a game like this though (that she never though she would actually like), there is much to do for the farm to grow. dabin is best when it comes to slaughtering enemies in the mine, while nahee earns so much money through farming. all in all, they form a good team except when dabin messes up and forgets very simple tasks.
she gets a notice that nahee has finally logged in and immediately sends a voice chat request only to sound panicked as soon as they get connected. “unnie i’m so so so so sorry please don’t murder me when y- well, you’ll see.” she knows nahee wouldn’t actually get angry with her over gaming stuff and if she genuinely did dabin doesn’t think she would know how to deal with it because she doesn’t take games very seriously in the first place. but still, she messed up something that took a lot of effort to do and she does enjoy their occasional farming dates. she can’t go out a lot right now due to her extremely packed schedule so voice chatting is essential to keep contact.

{ - jinwook had planned to text an invitation to a few of his friends later tonight, when the unit’s first day of promotions finished up. walking around distracted and glued to his phone all day wouldn’t be a great start to forming convex’s image. it stays in his back pocket all day, so the people jinwook meets are strangers, mostly. he isn’t expecting to see nahee on the street - he hardly sees her out all ; } excuse me, miss! { - shocked expression shifting into a wide grin, jinwook hurries to catch her attention, quickly getting ahead of her so as not to spook ; } sorry to bother you, but hi, i’m a singer in a new idol group called convex! we’re debuting under sphere entertainment, and we’re going to hold or first showcase tomorrow night in hongdae, and well... { - he speaks rapidly, picking up speed until his usual spiel loses form and dissolves into amused laughter. he hands over a flier that speaks for itself, calming himself into seriousness for a moment ; } ... it would mean a lot to me if you could make it.
- Hey, uh.
- I think I left a bag at your place the last time I was there.
- It’s rather important.
- Are you free for me to come and get it?
- If not, let me know when I can come soonest.
the weather is still a bit chilly-- so jooheon has his signature, bright orange beanie hugging his head warmly, and a big puffy jacket. a backpack is slung across his shoulder as he makes his way up to nahee’s apartment, a whistle leaving his lips quietly and cheerily. his backpack clunks against anything and everything, the noise produced by the three layer bento stored inside it with dumplings, rice, side dishes-- you name it. he knocks three times in succession, in his unique form of announcing his arrival as he bounces on the balls of his feet while he waits for his cousin.
“naheeeee!” he sing songs as the bag slips off of his shoulder and he swings it back and forth gently. he leans up to make sure she can see the puff on his head through the peephole, continuing to hum happily. “let’s go by the river and eat dumplings~!!”
