Ranbir Kapoor Talks About Fire At RK Studios And Chances Of Revving RK Banner
Ranbir Kapoor’s skill as an actor is not hidden to anybody and proved once more with trailer of Sanju. Release of Sanju by Rajkumar Hirani is awaited eagerly on 29th June, 2018. In this movie, a stellar star cast can be seen with Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal, Jim Sarb, Vicky Kaushal and Manisha Koirala along with Ranbir Kapoor. Since, it is a biopic of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. Therefore, you may able to see both high points and low points of his life.
However, one may not forget the incident at the RK Studios in which everything is gutted in fire. It is believed that the fire is ignited within the studio due to a short circuit. During an interview with popular magazine GQ, Ranbir has said “Apart from the financial and emotional loss, there was a museum, which had all his [Raj Kapoor’s] old costumes.”
Later on, Ranbir Kapoor has added that the incident has affected his grandmother the most. He has told us “A lot of tourists, Russians especially, used to come to see his costumes from Mera Naam Joker, for one. So that’s a bummer, it’s quite fucked up. It was sad for my grandmother especially. I went to the studio with her – she was in a wheelchair and had tears in her eyes when she saw the damage. Perhaps this accident will spur my uncles and my father to think about doing more with the space.”
On asking Ranbir whether he likes to revive the RK Banner, the Barfi actor has replied “I find the word “revival” a bit pompous. RK Studios was what it was because of my grandfather – I don’t think I have the talent or the storytelling abilities to fly that particular flag …. If I want to produce, I’ll definitely start something new, which I tried with Jagga Jasoos, with Anurag Basu. If I direct a movie, I’ll probably produce it, but not under the RK Studios banner.”
