Wondered what it's like to touch and feel something

his father’s hand was something byungjoo always feared 

it needn’t be clenched to make him shudder; just staring at the  man’s hands made his heart race and his skin break out in sweat. as a child; they were the cause of many restless nights. as an adult, they are the reason he looses sleep, the reason why he flinches at the slightly raise of hand and feels stupid soon after. he pretends, that his father only did what he did to scare byungjoo into choosing a different path in life; that he didn’t hate the boy - that he just wanted him to be something useful to society. deep down he knew that his father hated his son who wanted to dance and sing - who didn’t want to marry a pretty young women and have kids and live as an office worker. but byungjoo; he just wanted to be loved. he wanted to dance and perform on stage and experience the life of an idol; the life of a star. he had always wished to have his father’s love  - his mother’s heart. he wanted his parents to love him as much as they loved his little brother...his little brother who grew up to be everything his parents wanted in a son. everything byungjoo was not. a living nightmare, that’s what he has - he suffers from the traumatic episodes of his childhood even today; he cries in his sleep and screams over every shadow. he lives in fear; masked by a smile and a bright outlook - he hides those secrets and pretends he’s alright. pretends he can just move on and create a better life.

tiffany in wonderland pt.2

the night started off so innocently. phone calls and messages lighting up her phone of an event at lotte world and while she loves the idea of celebrating any holiday at lotte world, she’d seen too many horror films to even consider the possibility of things working out just right or any well at all. what was going on is out of a movie and she would ordinarily be baffled if she wasn’t part of it — horrified even if not for ‘her’ ceaseless curiosity, a naive bravery alice possessed that she now subconsciously utilizes. 

her original plans tossed aside for a “night of magic.” if only she had known how magical this event was meant to be. 

unassuming and casual, she donned a costume she had from the year before. now it was who she is and she has no idea why the rabbit still consumes her mind. she’s led further and further into the dark, away from the crowd, away from the ‘world’ she knows. there’s no escape but she doesn’t seek one out. 

what was once her precious dog, a white maltese that doesn’t leave her side when she’s around, is now the rabbit that scampers away without a care besides being late for a very important date. without knowing, he saves her from the uncontrolled, unsanctioned chaos that takes up lotte world inch by inch, from what is now their reality. it’s ironic that fantasy is what ultimately spares her. 

stripes of fuchsia and purple deter her from her chase, the curl of a delirious, tempting, taunting grin that only attempts to misguide her and she is lost. 

lost in wonderland. 

but what            exactly is lost?

tiffany in wonderland pt.1 

                                                            ❝ if i had a world of my own,                                                       everyтнιng woυld вe nonѕenѕe.

she’s confused at first but doesn’t dare say what’s actually going on — because she has no clue. there’s the faint sensation of falling, a ghost sensation at that and she doesn’t recall why or how. endless questions swell and swarm in her mind without answers but an incessant curiosity makes her restless, more so than she already is naturally. 

a glimpse of white and her attention is diverted, oddly so from the chaos before her, zombies, vampires, but only a rare few catches her eye, draws her away. white compels her away from the all else, from the mess and flurry of colors that pass her by. crimson as a vampire claims his prey, a dull, murky brown of a zombie’s skin as it pulls at its own flesh and she’s repulsed but doesn’t stop. 

no, her single obsession lies on that — oh, is it . . . could it be? a rabbit? tiffany swears it could be and yet she’s sure of nothing, but curious of everything — everything and yet she follows her own set guidelines, ones she has no idea of; guidelines that she doesn’t quite understand the further she strays. the closer she gets, the louder the metronome seems. 

tick-tock. tick. tock. 

a repetition that lulls her into a false sense of security. an illusion that she believes to be reality. the tick-tock of the clock is like that which struck at midnight and illusion did become reality in that moment. if only she knew it still was but she cannot. 

she cannot make left and right.  she cannot stop chasing the white rabbit. she cannot fathom how the scene she was fleeing was too irrational to be anything but real. 

she cannot do any of these things after becoming lost in wonderland.

slender,

she was in that stupid game. slender.

the forest was so dark that without the light, she could barely see a thing in front of her. hailey wonders just who thought of making that game with immersion or something. she tries to take off whatever’s connecting her to the game but there’s nothing. her breath starts to quicken and her legs to shake as she realizes the only way out is to take those damn eight pages.

the girl starts running. she points her light mostly to the ground, afraid she will see the slenderman. the worst part is that he is there, waiting for her and she can never run away from him. goosebumps raise the hair from her arms and her mouth is dry while she desperately looks for those stupid pages.

hailey gets to one, but it was just an ordinary page. glued to the back of each page she found in those terrible woods was a familiar picture to her. they were always pictures of someone she’s lost before, for some reason or the other. there were her parents, aiden, jieun, bekah, eli, naeun – and… herself?

she looks at the last picture that was nothing but another selca. except that she never took that particular selca. it makes a shiver run down her spine and she bites on her bottom lip. as usual, when something was a bother, joohyun just ignored it. she shoved the page down her pocket and released a relieved sigh because that’s it. that was the end. she had the eight pages.

“hello?” the girl waits for the game to end but it doesn’t. so she waits a bit more, despair quickly raising her chest. “hel—“ a scream rips her throat as slenderman appears in front of her and she finally wakes up. she’s sweating and breathing heavily and eli is soon next to her. “oppa” hailey calls and wraps her arms around his neck. “i had a nightmare”

surprises,

her deer makeup is a bit smudged as she exits royal that night. she yawns, stretching a bit before getting to her car. hailey isn’t sure about what she’s doing at home, besides skyping with eli. he seemed like he really, really wanted to have a videocall with her and seeing how lonely she was now that naeun was gone, there were no complaints whatsoever.  despite everything, she wears a smile on her face because it’s Halloween, and she has candy and cupcakes and a not-so-scary horror movie (because she could never bear to watch the really scary ones).

her plans weren’t great, but she was sure to have a good time.

she hears distressed footsteps as soon as she gets to her floor. her eyebrows knit together and her heart races, wondering if she will have her own scary story that Halloween. when the figure comes to light, her body shivers and her eyes grow big.

“oppa!” hailey cries, dropping her bag to the floor and running to his arms. she probably stays in his embrace for way too long, nuzzling against his neck and letting her breathing come back to normal. she doesn’t feel like letting him go. eli’s embrace was probably the best thing to shake away the bad spirits that were around for Halloween. when  she finally steps back, hailey has the greatest smile she wore in weeks. “oppa! I’m so glad. why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I’m so happy! I missed you so much” the girl says and she hugs him again but letting go of him sooner this time.

“please, come in. we can watch movies and eat candy. like we did when we were kids” she laughs and lets him get her bag as she presses the buttons to open her door. “do you remember when we scared the nanny? my parents were so mad afterwards” hailey laughs and for the first time in weeks, she feels truly relaxed.

shame that eli couldn’t stay forever and fill the space that none of them spoke of being empty.

                                  “how is this stupid thing any better than viber? how do i — "

accept? block? ➥ call accepted!

“stephie? we’re still setting up for the party here so i don’t— what’s wrong? why do you look like you’ve been crying?”

“i do not!”

“oh please, i know you,” and she can hear the tinkling of glasses being put down for the sake of the call. it was another reason tiffany went to cassie first for most things — now that she dared to be more open with her feelings now, anyway. “tell me.”

“just promise me you won’t be near fire.”

“what? tonight?”

“in general.”

“so . . . no more bonfire when you come visit?”

“no, wait! that’s different.” cassie laughed as tiffany whined and she encouraged her to continue on then.

“okay. no fire when i’m not there or late at night. oh, and you should make ryan check on emily at night more often. you gave birth to her anyway.”

“you’re being so weird, steph.” it dawned on her slowly because if anyone knows tiffany, they can figure out all her references and jokes by the shows she watches or knows. “you’ve got to be kidding me. were you watching supernatural before you went to sleep?”

silence follows and cassie knew she was right.

“is that why you were crying? you thought i was going to be eaten up by flames above emily’s crib? you’re such a little weirdo. go back to sleep!”

“i have training in a few hours anyway so it’s okay.” “whatever. okay, look, stephie, i have to help ryan or he’ll make everything crooked. you know how he is. call me later? tomorrow?”

“mm,” and honestly the idea of ryan and how he decorates made her laugh. he really did slant almost everything to the right. who knows why. “okay, bye cassie. don’t forget to send me pictures of emily.”

“always. love you, baby sis.”

“love you too.”

she just couldn’t bring herself to tell her sister that she did try to sleep again after the first nightmare. the second just broke her heart too much to put into words. how do you tell your sister of a nightmare that was nearly her reality?

royal halloween,

hailey loved halloween. it is her first halloween in korea since she moved back to the country and she couldn’t be more excited. somehow, she wishes that jieun and her could’ve stayed a bit more in the states so she could enjoy halloween like she did last year, however, she also thinks that this would be just like any other year. surely, korea doesn’t show as much enthusiasm as the united states does regarding the spooky season, but hailey compensates.

as soon as she came back from the usa, hailey started working on decorations and soon her whole house was ready for halloween. of course, she wouldn’t be home much on halloween, but the girl felt like she needed to do at least this much. hailey wishes she could actually cook to bring some treats to the – remaining – trainees at royal entertainment. instead of that, she just buys some random candies – in teeth and other weird shapes. she also brings some cupcakes and gives them away at the cafeteria during lunch.

of course, most of people were still shaken by the amount of people who dropped in such short time. never would she have guessed that by the time she would come back from the usa she would’ve lost five members of her family. it still made her sad – since the fact was so fresh, plus her own, personal abandonments that she had to face recently. the trip to the usa did nothing but distract her. the pain was still there and it made itself more present each passing day.

halloween was nothing but another distraction. as she made a deer makeup for training today and tried to scar her fellow trainees here and there,  hailey avoided thinking too much about recent events. and by doing so, she also wanted people at royal to forget a little bit about the people who were lost and focus on fake spider webs and creepypastas.
