Very Good - Block B (line distribution) | @jsominrk, @rkxars & @rkvok
The theme for this month’s evaluation nor the party were the worst things to happen to Sungmin thus far. It was the fact that he had to wear a Hawaiian shirt that Sungmin dreaded the most. He had tried his hardest to convince his group mates to go in a different direction for their performance outfits but to no avail. He couldn’t even remember who had first brought it up, but he made a mental note to beat them once they were done.
He didn’t even understand the reasoning behind the decision. Sure the theme was summer and they were performing at a party, but did that really mean he had to wear a Hawaiian shirt? He had physically shuddered at the idea of wearing something so bright and eye-catching. It physically pained him to put the shirt on and wear it during the performance.
Sungmin was happy to be working with mostly people he knew as it made things easier and he found the groups flowed better. Somin was like his mentee and Moonbok had been a friend since they had both signed to Sphere at the same time. Youngjae was the only one he didn’t know but then again Sungmin wasn’t the most sociable person in the world. If anything, he would probably spend the rest of the party either with or talking to Yena, Sehun, the squad or his boyfriend.
He had opened up a lot this past year and had definitely changed, but he was still obviously somewhat closed off and anti-social when it came to certain things. Large parties and gatherings were not his most comfortable surroundings and he tried to ignore the fact that they were performing at a large summer party attended by all five major companies.
Rehearsals had gone well and he and Somin had worked together to choreograph part of their dance. The aim of this month was to hype the crowd, and they aimed to do just that with their choreography. The song itself was hype and easy to dance to. It was a fun and energetic song that required energy - something he didn’t always have.
The more evaluations he attends, the easier they become. Of course, not all of them are as easy as others and one can never predict what the theme of the next month will be. They definitely kept Sungmin on his toes and he had grown to enjoy that. They tested him and pushed him which was what he needed to help him grow as an artist. This month was no different.
Sungmin still hated the shirts. He hated them with a passion. He felt sick every time he looked down to see what he was wearing. Part of him was hoping it was just a dream and he would wake up at any second but he never did (no matter how many times he pinched himself). He was set to embarrass himself in front of everyone he knew. He hated it.
Standing on stage finally, Sungmin knew he couldn’t turn back. The shirts were part of their performance and he needed to face that face. He got into the zone of ‘Arrow’ and tried his best to ignore the shirts once the music began. The song was fun and hype and Sungmin would be damned if they didn’t involve the crowd and hype them up.
His rap was where he shined as usual and he remembered the routine when he wasn’t rapping. Having three rappers and one vocalist made it a little hard to find a song but it was clear they had chosen well. The performance ended and Sungmin was satisfied.
when he first became a trainee, he was always aware of all the new casting events. he liked to pass by the practice rooms often during those times to try and see what the potential new people were bringing, and so he could get a feel for what the company as a whole was looking for. as time went on, however, such news began to elude him for whatever reason---whether it was because the coaches were tired of filling him in (which would be weird because they still always told him about the new people who were coming), or because of a lack of time, or some other unknown cause---which makes him all the more grateful that he’s pestered the staff enough over the years that they give him information about the new people when it’s available.
he learns of the two new incoming trainees the day they’re signed, and so has enough time to prepare his signature lunch boxes the night before. this time, he goes with some kimchi fried rice, chicken katsu, and kimbap, and while it’s a bit simpler than what he’s done in the past, it’s still made with a lot of love and care. with the information he’d been given, he goes on his search for the second trainee during free training time, during which he finds it to be the most convenient, since it offers the most amount of time. sure, it may be harder to find said trainees due to the fact that not everyone is congregating in the cafeteria like during meal hours, but because he gets more time anyway, it evens out.
finally, after about a half an hour of searching, he spots who he’s looking for, and he takes long and quick strides in order to close the gap between them. once he’s within earshot, he begins calling out toward the other, waving him down as he picks up the pace into a light jog. “hey, you!” he yells enthusiastically, a bright smile on his face. once he’s closed the distance, he switches to an inside voice (which some would say is not much of a different from his yelling) and bows in greeting. “you’re the new kid, right? youngjae?” he grins, holding out the lunchbox, which has a sticker placed on it of his own face and name. “i’m park chanyeol, nice to meet ya. welcome to trc!”
He gets called an idiot, and corny, and he just smiles, even giggling softly in his sleepy haze. “Just for you~” He’s laying the cheese on thick, but that’s what you do when you gift someone something on Valentines, right? That’s what he had always you were supposed to do. He hears the small mumbling of a thank you, though, and all of it is worth it. He lights up, grinning widely, and then steps forward and throws his arms around Youngjae’s shoulders. “You’re welcome, Valentine~” He grins, giggling softly again. Maybe he should come around tired more often, he got more affectionate without a full filter on.
“Do you wanna go get some food or something?” His eyes droop slightly, and he rests his head on Youngjae’s shoulder, using it as a temporary pillow. Food sounded so good right now! But a nap would’ve been nice too. Food was probably better though, for Youngjae, he needed to eat. Had to feed him. Yes, things, stuff. Why was the light so bright again? “Let’s go do something if you’re not busy..”
Was June asking Youngjae on a date here? He himself couldn’t even tell. It felt more like wanting to just hang out, but he had also just called Youngjae his Valentine, and inside he wasn’t opposed to it being a date either. Huh, weird. Regardless, whatever it was, he wanted to do it. “C’mon~” He tugs on Youngjae’s arm, as if being cute and annoying would get him what he wanted.
do you reckon he could take a break and come up with some faster flyer handing out machine or something? would that even be possible? with his stupid brain then he could probably come up with something, the question would just be if he could actually get it to work. because when it came to his experiments it was not surprising when something went wrong. and he doubted the company would be happy if his experiment ended up destroying the whole stack of paper resting against his arm. he literally only just started this venture, he didn’t really fancy getting in hot water so soon.
rolling his neck, rubbing at the back of his hair with his free hand, jordan hummed slightly as he looked around the street in front of him trying to find his next victim. it didn’t take him that long to spot someone promising, grinning as he wandered over. “like k.arma? the girl group?” it was new conversation starter he wanted to try out, “if you do, then good news for you. because i have a flyer here with some information on it. also some other trc events as well.” he picked one of the flyers out, holding it up in front of the other’s face, “it even has pictures.”
the past few months had been a big switch up from what junmyeon had grown accustomed to, but somehow youngjae was still a big part of it all. at first it had been the guilt of june being absent while youngjae went through his collapsing and following termination of his contract with sphere. since june had the time, he had made it a point to try and check in and take care of youngjae, but now it was just routine. youngjae was stuck with him whether he liked it or not.
“heyo!! i brought you soup since it’s cold out.” he chimed as he basically let himself in. june was definitely the peppier one of the two of them, and he knew youngjae would probably just grumble and grunt at him, but june had learned not to take it personally, that’s just how youngjae was. no matter what youngjae said or did, he was getting june’s care and that was that. “eat up~ you need your strength for exams.” he knew youngjae was still in school and the end of the year was approaching. soon he’d be done, and he’d be able to focus on his health a little more. for now, june was taking what he could get. “is there anything you think you might need? i can always run out and grab stuff if you need it.”
