A serious note for all my followers, friends, fans, and supporters.
For....probably....many of you, you come from the future where it’s already 2019 and you’re just wrapping up celebrating New Years Day. While I’m a bit slow with the time travel, I’ll be catching up soon enough but I wanted to take a moment and really just have a sincere heart-to-heart with each and every one of you who have supported me throughout 2018.
Come February, that will mark the one year anniversary that I began this endeavor of translating. What started out as a simple mission for me to become more knowledgeable in the Japanese language became a whole new full-time job as I dealt with depression and other diagnosis’ (along with RL situations) that were really just beating me down each and every day.
Because of you, I found a new reason to get up every day. I found a new reason to enjoy the life I have, instead of feeling hopeless and lost with what was going on outside of my control. I found a new reason to love what I do and even better, have thousands of you show your never-ending support, love, and encouragement, even when you didn’t realize I needed those words the most.
Because of each and every one of you 2018 was an amazing experience for me during this expedition as I continually felt more and more motivated to provide you all with English translations of your favorite Doujinshi, Couples, and Series’. I never even dreamed I’d be reaching the 2000 follower mark within a year of doing this. Between the social media platforms, we’ve reached over 3.5k people who have been nothing but kind, patient, and beyond supportive of the little translations/projects I do.
I want to keep striving at learning more about the software’s, the drawing tablets, the drawing even so I can keep delivering to you all, the Manga you deserve and want to read. This is primarily why, when my dear friend Tsubaki (aka despairhajime over on Instagram) brought Danganronpa Kirigiri to my attention, I thought ‘what a perfect way to show everyone just how much I appreciate their love and support throughout the year.’ Since a majority of the translators ended up placing their translations on hiatus due to their own busy lives or just couldn’t return to it, I am more determined than ever to bring this series to you all in English because I feel this community deserves it more than anything.
So thank you. From the bottom of my heart and with as most sincerity as I can convey over a silly post on Tumblr in words. Thank you all so much for what you did for me this year. May 2019 be as fruitful and as kind, if not more so, than 2018 was for each of you. To another year of learning curves, new challenges to face, and many more translations to come.
Happy New Year to You All.
Love,
Hikari-chan <3
