Long ago, two hunters and killers promised to meet atop the old and crumbling Firelink Shrine. The belltower which served as a mass grave for those whom had tended so dutifully to ash and flame alike was a grim reminder of the price of their kindness.
But it was also one of the tallest places in Lothric, below the High Wall. The setting sun was blazing in the distance. As the day would pass, Maldron found himself seated on the edge of the tower, legs dangling in the air as he simply watched.
Visions of a darkness was permeating his mind. And in his silent contemplation, he achieved a deathlike state of nirvana. He saw the sun’s form dripping and spilled from a widening, blackening void. A redness taking the skies that surrounded him like a sickening flock of vultures. He saw flashes of flame, of the world curling unto itself, surrounding the precipice of the end of the world.
And laying open nearby was a leather-bound book. Text, smudged and smeared over years of wear, could be barely legible in some places, or just as clear as the day he wrote it in others.
Maldron himself was unresponsive. It was only he that saw the visions of doom and blasphemy. Words fell on deaf ears, and he was only the barest able to be considered ‘conscious.’
Quite the welcoming party for his fellow hunter, certainly.
I think this is some nice thinking from Rick. My little niece Therese said “Brap pipat!” which I assume means she agrees.
Let’s not discount the real possibility that this is the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for Morty. I’d take this deal in a heartbeat, in his spot.
Am I going to end up liking Summer? I feel like I’m going to end up liking Summer.
