Why I Stopped Sleeping

Last night I had such a surreal dream. I was visiting a college (because that's all I'm forced to think about lately) and the sky turned dark and wind started to blow and it turned me around to face my friend Sarah. We had a normal conversation and I suddenly ended up in another room when a voice told me, "Sarah died..." Then I thought out loud to myself, "Dammit. Sarah's dead. Now I have to tell her body that she's dead so people don't go mistaking her for being alive." Then all of a sudden my friend Michelle was next to me and I guess she overheard me saying all of that nonsense and she asked me, "Are you okay?" And then I thought about it and when those words kept repeating in my head, the voice transformed into Taylor's. I was holding a picture of her and I looked into it, staring hard enough and hoping it would bring her out of the photograph and into the world. But I was interrupted by an abrupt shaking, not violent, but sort of a swift motion. It felt like someone was trying to hug me and nuzzle my neck and try to get inside my body through my skin all at once. This time, my eyes were open and I wasn't dreaming. I hadn't dreamed that, and I was awake all night after that. Then I became so tired (but I was scared of my dreams so I refused to fall asleep) that I started to hear songs that confused music with different lyrics. I heard piano to a Dave Matthews song and saw Dallas Green singing it. Everything was mixed up. The lyrics that kept replaying through my head was,

"God or the devil alone

The two must have worked
